Bottom line is… Southgate does not have any tactics…!
He just pontificates on the side-line and sends out established players onto the pitch, hoping their clubs have coached them well enough to be better than the other team…
Scotland played well and raised their overall game and commitment… 100% for effort
England believe they are well better than they actually are… and have complacency instead of blood and thunder running through their veins… they are actually, painful to watch.!

It is possible for one to get their tactics right and the other not to.

I don’t see that this England team has a big time Charlie attitude to be fair.

I think Southgate is a very cautious manager and has this England team playing within themselves.

I think if Klopp, Pep, or even an Ancelotti was the manager they’d have a great chance of winning a Euros or World Cup.

Scotland are playing above themselves and not matter who was managing them, they’d have no chance of winning a major tournament.

Not a slight on Scotland. Just my honest assessment.

Once/if you survive the borefeast of the earlier game, this one might be a nice dessert for you. Ukraine have reached the knockout stage of a European Championship for the first time in their history. Sweden have reached the knockout stage of a European Championship for just the third time.

Is there anybody on TAN who will watch this? I know I don’t.

I will.

Although I’ll probably be drunk after the England game.

Sweden solid at the back. Ukraine better offensively, but they take greater risks, which could invite Swedish counters. I am really not sure how this game will go.
What I do know though, is that Sweden will take a bit more risks than they did against Spain. Very different opponent today.

Magnificent song sung by passionate people. Normally not my favorite national hymn, but that crowd gave me shivers. Such passion is almost only found when people feel their very culture is under threat, or in the intoxication of Nationalism/Imperialism (which isn’t that positive). Was moving that Ukrainian hymn for sure.

Haha yeah I was trying to guess that too.

Ukraine  1-0

absolutely leathered that one!

Not many watching this?

Now was that really a wicked pass or a miss-hit shot/pass

that was going in, for sure.

It is not a bad game this. But I feel kind of empty after the last one. Have a good evening, guys. I think it is maybe enough football for me tonight, as the sun is searing outside and I should probably take advantage of it.

Isn’t it like 9 PM there?
