Glad for Insigne, he’s deserved it for his performance - clearly a class apart from the other Italian attackers.
I know they were the underdogs in this one, but Turkey needs to rethink their whole approach.
They don’t whistle anymore, thank god!
24-1 in finishes. As the Norwegian commentators say, can’t remember a worse performance in a tourney by Turkey, nothing works for them . They are getting so utterly humiliated in all aspects of play, while the Italian team works like a smooth machine (although their midfield and strikers could have been more effective obviously, then again, so could almost all teams).
Italy sailing up as a clear Group Favorite now. Hopefully Switzerland will follow.
Initially I thought that you meant the ref puts his whistle away.
Probably taken too much a mental beating and fans have lost hope. A good sign
Well, Turkey’s players could not get the ball, they are kicking the Italians.
What impressed me the most about Italy, is how fluid they play, how much they are in sync. They play like a very well bedded club team and not individuals at all. Impressive.
Nice attack there by the Turks, but Chiellini just said no and high fived his mate.
And that was that. A very good game of football that from one side, although it would have been nice if Turkey would have joined the game as well.
Italy impressive in very many aspects of play. Not the best game when it comes to competitiveness.
very dominant by Italy. pressed to turn over the ball and held possession once they got it.
Thank the stars that the match did not end with 0-0 as some have predicted.
Yeah, I was impressed. I did not think it would be such a dominant performance at all. But Turkey didn’t really show up either to be fair, although this was of course partly due to Italy’s dominant press.
Thought it would be tighter, but Italy were streets ahead of Turkey.
If Italy remains unbeaten for 2 more matches, they would equal their own record (30 games unbeaten) set all the way back in 1930’s
Agreed about Berardi. Immobile same as he always was. Barella didn’t impress me much either, was trying to keep my eye out for him, as that’s the first I’ve seen of him and I’ve heard his name. Maybe poor game from Barella, maybe I just need to rewatch with kids not about, but I’ve no doubt Berardi was very poor that game.
Immobile played a very good game I thought. Beradi was very decent too, ran around Turk defenders that couldn’t cope with him, though Immobile the better. I don’t even understand how it is possible to say otherwise, their movement on and off the ball, excellent, Turkey could not cope with their movement at all. Not that I have read an article on the game, but I bet that if one took a look at player ratings, Beradi wouldn’t be that low at all.
“Shite” is thrown around here like a favorite adjective, but has absolutely no meaning if these are regarded as “shite”.
For me, reading stuff like that is just completely absurd. “Shite” means shit in my understanding, and shit is many, many levels below what we saw from Italy last night, who were excellent all around I thought. Sometimes it seems to me that if you don’t play like Manchester City at their very best or us last season at our very best, then you are “shite”. I just blink at such statements and shake my head, usually not commenting on it.
But this I find truly absurd after having watched the Italy vs Turkey game.
What the Premier League needs is for foreign owners to be rooted out, 50 +1 controlled by fans. Far less money for clubs, far more soul. It would bring down the inflated quality in England, but that is also needed too, as it is purely artificial and fake in any case. Perhaps then, we would see a bit less “shite” adjectives being thrown around and a bit more realistic expectations of what constitutes good football. Not that it will happen, but that future seems far nicer to me than the current nonsense with financial doping left and right. Germany has the solution.
Because I certainly saw a fantastic Italy last night despite them not scoring on every single chance. I would like to remind people though, that most of this season, Liverpool has needed far more chances to score goals than what Italy did last night. It was an incredibly dominant performance.
Verratti still to come back from injury. Was interesting to see Florenzi going from “flopping” as PSG’s offensive RB to forming almost a 3 at the back when he tucks inside at RCB when Italy build from the back in possession to allow Spinazzola bomb forward on the opposite side. Only one game, I’m sure a few positions might change for Italy, like I said Verratti, but Chiesa could also be a strong candidate to battle with Berardi.
