Benzema is an underrated footballer but I hate him since he and Ribéry f****d that underage girl.

The Valbuena story was just the icing on the cake.

Didn’t they meet in the 1986 semi-finals too? France was rather tame in that game.

Probably worried about being the victims of GBH

I would like to have memories like that, but when I think of France vs Germany, the first thing that comes to my mind is that terrible attack in Paris. After we got through this together, I only wish the French the very best. They don’t need to beat us, but a draw would be fine for me too.

Finishing third in this group might not be enough.

I want both teams to go through. Despite what I said bout Benzema, I want France to get to the knock out stages, since it is much more fun to have teams of higher skill there. Then I want them to get knocked out cold in a good game.

The poor Hungarians are just gonna be target practice for three teams who’ll actually be able to boost GD and GS to outdo at least two of the other third place teams with 4 points. I can’t see any of the three big teams going out.

Matip’s dad? :joy:

There’s several guys in that squad that are absolute insufferable assholes:

Griezmann
Digne
Dembele
Rabiot
Pogba
Lemar

Just to name a few.

Turncoat.

I have never felt like that toward any of those. They aren’t my favorite players and they probably aren’t the type of guys I would hang out with but insufferable?

Edit: no of them is a patch on that Evra wanker!

Even after Digne took to social media to specifically make a joke about putting the red card back in the refs pocket after Richarlison’s tackle on Thiago? That’s really poor. And I’m not being sensitive. IMO that goes against a code of professionals.

The rest, don’t really care for, various reasons. Maybe insufferable too strong a word.

There are also 3 guys in the German squad that I do not at all care for and wish they were not included.

Digne is just an idiot that’s why he ended up at Everton.

Anyway they’re going to give Allemagne a good hiding.

I’d only be a turncoat if I had ever supported Germany

Like most here, I imagine, my football preferences were formed in my youth. West Germany were the first team to break my heart as a little kid when they beat England in '70. They went on to be extremely unlikeable throughout the 70s and 80s and only shed their air of evil in 2006. I’m now pretty agnostic about them and am apathetic about international football in general.
That match made a huge impression on me though, it really was a contest between art and industry, beauty and brute force. The way it was decided was cruel and unfair.
I will watch tonight’s game as a neutral and just enjoy the spectacle, but that game in '82 will be at the back of my mind, and probably tip me towards Les Bleus.

France the big favourites here. They are a settled team and have a good mix of experience and youth. Germany on the other hand have had their problems recently, and I’m not really sure that Löw knows what his best team is at the moment. Also, looking at the squads, France are better in every area of the pitch in terms of quality, with the exception of the keepers.

If it was the knock-out stage, I’d say it’s 50-50 (Germany is Germany after all), but here, right at the start of their tournament, I think that the risk of being catched cold is quite high for them. So, I’m confident that France will display their all-round superiority at the moment. 3-1.

Absolutely yes. And hope you know I was just joking around!

Tough one for me, the two baddies are playing each other :joy:. At kick off I’ll be rooting for France (probably…)

Surely England are the baddies that we are all waiting to have their usual slip up, no?
After that who cares?

Who are the baddies? Usually England, by playing boring football, or Italy by playing boring football punctuated by diving and theatrics. Who else?

Spain for passing themselves into knots?
