Sorry there is for me Southgate tried to defend 1 nil. Didn’t react when Italy started to impose themselves. Did nothing to try win game at 1 all played for penalties.

Southgate bottled it completely. Three youngsters sacrificed in such a high-pressure situation. Meanwhile, he takes Hendo off.
I feel pity for England, but it’s all on them, or rather on their coach.
It’s coming Rome after all, and the noise levels will become unbearable around here in the next hours.

Terrible penalties by England.
Particularly Sancho and Rashford. Its always a mistake to stop, and wait for the keeper to dive.
They should go in with one thought, place it in the corner.

Trying to reinvent the wheel.
Run up and kick it dead hard into the corner. That’s what all the best penalty takers have done. Stuttering run ups get found out by a top keeper.

I can see Rashford, but I’d rather have had Hendo and Walker taking penalties than Sancho and Saka.

I think you are too harsh with him. Consider where England are now and where they usually were traditionally, out before the semi finals.
I thought Saka was poor in the match as well. Just too much for the kid and for me a bemusing decission when you have Grelish.
