Italy looked a bag of nerves after the goal but England did nothing to push for a 2nd.
Best team won. England are genuinely fucking shite. Lovely to see that short-armed cunt on the losing side.
My 12 hour shift tomorrow will be a breeze.
Southgate has just taken responsibility and said he decided on the takers based on training.
Kane kept giving the ball away. I’ve seen statues that are more mobile.
Manchester players present and future just can’t get over the Europe curse. Kane won’t get around a club change for his trophy hunt. Manchester deserves you Harry.
Credit to Southgate for taking the blame regarding his selection choices before the penalties.
Southgate didn’t trust Rashford and Sancho for the entire tournament. They only got a few playing minutes each. Then he subbed them on in the very last few minutes, in a high pressure situation and says you have to deliver now? That could only go wrong.
Little Italy in Toronto celebrating.
Mancini’s 11th trophy as manager.
What about taking blame for an utterly clues game plan and having no technical ability to change a game.
Glad some people can go back to 'we‘re not english - we’re scouse‘ mode now.
Banging on about Southgate but some better managers have lost to worst teams.
Iceland anyone?
They didn’t get any chance to get any nervous energy out of there legs.
I though England could hold on. We needed another goal. We could have, should have won
Honestly, i am totally gutted. I thought i would see England win a tournament in my lifetime. It wasn’t to be.
I never will. That’s it.
They do.
To Southgate’s credit he’s done what good International managers do - he’s built team spirit, and has found some identity to the players he’s brought together.
But I think there is a tendency in him to want to overthink things and be seen as a football intellectual, which leads to mistakes like tonight - bringing on two players to take pens and expecting them to step up cold, and throwing a 19 year old to the wolves. Subbing off subs, leaving his best players on the bench, omitting the most natural and authoritative leader England have. Trying to defend a lead against Italy for an hour.
This Euro’s was there for England to win. Yet again they fell against the first proper side they faced. I think had Southgate played Henderson, built his attack round Grealish and got Sancho on the pitch, they might have had enough to get over the line. I’m being hindsighty, but I’m trying to think ‘what would Klopp have done’ and I don’t think it would have been remotely what Southgate did tactically or in selections.
“Home? No, I said Rome”
Christ, Hodgson wasn’t a better manager!!!
But hey, England has won the Everton trophy for winning the trophy after the round of 16
Anyone hoping Jordan calls it a day now? The good one, not the bellend.
