Euro 2020 Archive Thread

I think some fans don’t like the way Germany plays. At least that was the gist of the disapproval of fans I met in forums.

Really? I’m sure that they were loving it when Germany trounced Brazil 7-1 on their own ground, and then went on to be world champions…

It’s not like they didn’t enjoy the accomplishments. Besides, I’m sure there’s many more fans aside the ones I know. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It appears that the Euro will be hosted by multiple countries after all.

London, England

However, BBC Sport understands the English FA has told UEFA it hopes Wembley will be able to host around 20,000 fans for the group games (the number allowed for the FA Cup final in May), and many more for the knock-out matches.

Glasgow, Scotland

On Wednesday, the Scottish government gave approval for 12,000 supporters to attend games at Hampden in June.

Dublin, Republic of Ireland

There are growing fears that Dublin may not be able to host Euro 2020 games, after the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) told UEFA it cannot provide assurances on minimum spectator numbers.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

At least 12,000 spectators will be able to attend matches in Amsterdam, The Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) has confirmed.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Denmark will allow “at least 11,000 to 12,000” fans to attend Euro 2020 matches at Copenhagen’s 38,000-capacity Parken Stadium, which is set to stage three group games and one last-16 game.

St Petersburg, Russia

“We already have an agreement to fill the stands to 50% capacity,” Sorokin said. “We are working to welcome foreign supporters and this has not been rejected by the authorities.”

Bilbao, Spain

However, the Spanish football federation said in a statement on Wednesday that the Basque government’s conditions were “impossible to meet” in time for the start of tournament on 11 June and it would therefore be unable to hold matches with spectators.

Munich, Germany

Germany are yet to give an indication of the number of fans that could be permitted, following a rise in coronavirus case numbers in the country.

Budapest, Hungary

However, Hungary are yet to make their plans to welcome supporters for three group games and one last-16 game public.

Baku, Azerbaijan

While the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from 4-6 June will be held behind closed doors, there is yet to be a decision on Euro 2020 matches.

Rome, Italy

The FIGC say Rome will welcome spectators, though the number of fans who will be permitted has not yet been specified.

Bucharest, Romania

The Romanian Government plans to welcome 13,000 spectators at the National Arena in Bucharest.

Two World Cups and two Olympics, four if you count the Winter Olympics too, were cancelled due to the Second World War. Why couldn’t another Olympics or the freaking Euro & Copa be cancelled due to a pandemic that has claimed nearly three million lives???

What gets me is UEFA’s insistence that they know the numbers now…

Only time anyone wanted football cancelled was when we led the PL by such a margin.

It all comes down to the dollar.

No doubt some multi-billion dollar companies have poured money into UEFA through sponsorship etc. And are pushing for it to go ahead.

EDIT:

As things stand, we should have about 6-8 players at Euro’s.

I think if they are fit, there’s no question about 6 of them: Thiago, Hendo, Jota, Shaqiri, Robertson and N. Williams.

Potentially Trent, if he manages to sneak in.

We’ll see what’s up with Virgil, for now, I’m not counting him, but not dismissing either.

Harry Wilson will also surely go, but I don’t really count him as a Liverpool first team player for next season, so hopefully does well and it raises his market value.

Shame that Ben isn’t somewhere fit and playing to be part of that squad, too.

Ben Who!!!

So that’s 6-8 to Euro
Another 3 to Copa and WC qualifiers
Another 3 to Africa WC qualifiers

Woodburn.

To be honest the likes of Neco, Shaqiri could probably do with the minutes.

Those blowing on fumes are my concern as for going to Africa for WC it’s only a week or so. Copa America I wasn’t aware of, where they hosting that.

Hope the footballers who supported Bolosarno might apologise while they are there, due to the fact they are lucky they aren’t stuck there like the rest of Brazil.

Colombia and Argentina.

Crazy year of football ahead.
