I don’t know if I should be reading too much into their performances in a grand total of one game each at Euros but Trent and Szoboszlai looked pretty worrying. Some great long passes and a quality assist from the latter but they looked jaded overall.
That said, if we could see Gakpo consistently playing at least like he did against Poland… Confident, strong in duels, nimble feet, quite decent in taking on players… Still, he needs to be ruthless in front of goal but I really liked his performances on the left. Admittedly, I thought he’d be a good centre forward of some variety but he looks much better on the left.

I thought he was ok but tactics (if they existed) were all over the place. Jude had free role and wants to dominate everywhere. Meant that him, Trent, Foden and Walker just getting in each others way. Could throw a hoop round them at times and Trent didn’t seem sure where to go

Is that standard? I haven’t seen any England games for a while but after the first 15 minutes, I thought we were in for a treat. After that, it was almost as if they were afraid of the ball. some really decent passes went in to the box but the England players looked like they were defending rather than attacking it.

Well I dressed up as a crusader, took along an inflatable toy plane and sang shit songs about our hosts to show them that our country has achieved literally fuck all in the last 80 years.
Where are they next? Frankfurt? Well they could maybe take in the opera or the radio symphony whilst they’re there. Of course it also has the highest crime rate in Germany, so they’ll probably just get stabbed.

It’s Cologne after that, on Tuesday. Not sure the mood in the city is overly excited tbh…Haven’t noticed any English fans yet, but have already encountered loads of Scottish fans, blend right in as expected.

Proper throwback this morning seeing a Romania side full of players I’ve not only never seen but havent heard of. The lack of familiarity with players in foreign leagues is what made international football so enthralling when I was kid. This feels like 1990 again.
