Ex-player Darwin Nunez

Looking at Nunez individually, he is a very good player. His biggest problem was somehow over the seasons, he just couldn’t blend into the team play. He is almost like the part of the machine that is well made but just does not work well with the rest of the machine. Unfortunate, but wish him a great career even after the Saudi adventure.

Season. The treble year he was a beast.

Nunez problem was consistency as good as he was one week he would be as terrible the next week. Only once did he score in consecutive league games.

yep…

i really took to him that year…ive all the guys ive felt for over the hyears hes up there…really struggled after that season, Houllier just kept picking him, when to me he needed a spell…whats he meant to do though? refuse to play…he was so out of form it bordered on cruelty…at least thats the way i remembered it

thoroughly decent Human Being by all accounts

El hadj diouf…

Also onea that didn’t do as well as we wanted include Keane, Baros, Crouch.

The list is plentiful. The difference for Nunez was he played in a team that won.

Interesting comment from Konaté, that. Another member of the team of champions goes.

All the best, Darwin, and thank you for your crazy enthusiasm , and your contagious passion!

When you’re back from that desert shithole, YNWA.

Was always a guy who performed best when he made to get his mind uncluttered.

Give him too many options and he starts to second guess himself.

Adios Nunez

Classy exit by Darwin. Rooting for him to thrive.

I’m always going to be a fan of Darwin.

Always wanted him to succeed. Just wasn’t to be.

Don’t like to use the words failure for him but he showed in the same game why we were right to get him in and also why he should be leaving multiple times.

Some of his goals , the ones against Newcastle especially defined him. I still would put some of the blame on him not succeeding on the coaches.

I don’t think anyone who contributed to a team the won the title can be called a total failure, but it was right to move him on at this point.

He should have done better than he did but he gave his all, scored some vital goals and done as well as others we have looked upon as being successful for us.
He didn’t live up to his price tag,but he was never a 65/85 mp player so don’t know why we paid that.
Good luck to him, wish him all the best and hopefully he doesn’t spend too long in the desert so we can see him ripping up defences all over Europe again, just not against us.
