A Liverpool legend. He was principally involved in many of the club’s greatest moments of recent history - the comeback against Dortmund in the Europa League quarterfinal, the bonkers goal in the derby which had Klopp celebrating with Alisson on the pitch, the comeback against Barca in the UCL semifinal, the UCL final against Spurs. No one will ever compare him to his more prominent teammates, let alone the club’s greatest. But that he scored so many vital goals - so many memorable moments - is something that will live forever in the hearts of Reds worldwide.
And while I too wonder what could have happened with his career if Funes Morí didn’t make that awful “tackle,” I don’t think anyone should be disappointed with the outcome. He played for the best club in the world at the peak of its modern era, and cemented himself as a legend in that club’s history. That’s a career worth celebrating.
He was just starting to come into his own with Klopp’s team. I don’t think he would have gotten much better but would have been a very handy substitute for us had it not been for the cunt Funes Mori.
He had a couple of loans before and never really stood out in those loans too.
But he’s given Liverpool fans moments to cheer ,great moments too.
Feels like that to me too. He lost some love for football after he left Liverpool. Understandable as there was a special atmosphere at the club during Klopp’s tenure. Anyone would miss that.
