Ex-player: James MILNER

With all the club’s Milner has been at , including City. To say that he will be generally remembered as a Liverpool player is a credit to what he’s offered the club.

Would have loved to see him see out his career with us , but it’s what it is.

Was only a bit part player in City’s winning teams whereas he was crucial for us… With him starting as a wingback and playing all around the pitch for us.

He’ll go down as a Liverpool great and be identified with this club more than any other for sure.

That undervalues what he did and was at City. In a large squad full of talented players he was always a valued and much used player, just one whose profile was typically lower than players he was ostensibly competing with. His reputation there, among the fans and the media, never matched his importance, but he was always among the most used players they had there. I will always remember that 3-2 win in 2014. In the first half we were so much superior to them, and Phil’s winner came against the run of play after they had turned the tide at half time. They quickly became much the better side and after equalizing looked the more likely to get the winner. The main driver of that change - introducing Milner at half time.

One of the unfortunate narratives that developed after his move was city moved him on when what happened was that his importance to them was recognized by the club and reflected in the contract extension they offered him but he preferred to come to us.

Agree. But I’d like to think Milner values his time at Liverpool more than his time at City.

I remember when we signed him thinking he was an older player coming to see out his last few years at Liverpool. Now here we are 8 years later and he’s leaving to see out his last few years somewhere else.
What a career!

He’s played more games for us than for anyone else at a time when we have been competing for the top prizes,Good going for a player nearing the end of his career.

Radio Merseyside tonight reporting he is in talks with Brighton…

Straight swop for McAllister?

James Milner :speaking_head:“I’ve won the Premier League with Man City & Liverpool and there is no comparison.
It meant so much much more to win it with Liverpool, the trophy lift even had a better atmosphere at Anfield, despite there being no fans there.”

What a legend :clap::clap::clap:

He was still happy to accept City’s blood-stained money, though.

A blemish for sure. But it is what it is. If KDB decides to see off his career at Liverpool , would you hold his time in City against him ?

Yes

Don’t know why you’ve put the sad face there.

I know that it isn’t fashionable these days, but having principles is actually a good thing.

The good thing about this is that at least we know he’s leaving and we’ll be able to give him the send off he deserves. Hopefully someone can come up with a good song for him before the last game of the season at Anfield in 2 weeks time. That’s going to be an emotional afternoon with Bobby leaving as well. Truly the end of an era.

Well he isn’t dumb

He obviously wants the PL appearance record - he is 34 behind Gareth Barry. With a fair wind he can do that in two seasons, but not here.

Good luck to him.

Yeah would be risky going Everton if you were chasing that record.

Confirmed that Milly is off. Great respect for him, achieved the lot with us, Mr Versatile, the old man celebration against Leicester was boss.

With all the talk about Bobby, poor Millie seems to be the forgotten man. I trust he’ll get the send off he deserves too.

Klopp:

We have time until Monday to give them all the farewell they deserve. Millie and Bobby wouldn’t like it if people forget Ox and Naby. Bobby 100% deserves (his reception). But there is time to give them all the farewell they deserve. Millie played an incredible number of games. Same for Bobby. Ox came here as a young talent and became here a great character and real good guy. Naby, everybody knows. We spent a lot of money, a lot of expectations. Because of injuries he couldn’t meet all of them. But look at the football he played in his best moments. Played big games, scored big goals."
