From that weird looking picture… Looks like Hendo was in a staring competition with a goldfish… as they have no eyelids, it is sort of pointless yeah, but I bet he gave that fish a run for its money :0)
The Dutch authority trying to verify his human rights record
Played the match vs PSG , seemed a rather tame draw.
Southgate flew there to watch the match though
I’m pretty sure you have got the opponent wrong …
Sorry , my bad.
Jordan Henderson has threatened Ajax that he will not play for the club again if they don’t let him leave for AS Monaco. He has told the club this afternoon, 4 days before the huge game vs Feyenoord. As a reaction Farioli has stripped him of his captaincy! [@telegraaf]
He really has become obnoxious since leaving us.
Jurgen did say that Henderson could become snotty if left out of the playing xi
Pretty sure I heard the commentator on our match the other night say how well he had been playing for Ajax this season in the Dutch league. Money, money, money.
It’s really strange to see how he has gone from being a consummate professional and impeccable captain at LFC, to a money-hungry, egotic imbecile now he has left.
With hindsight, Klopp did a sterling job to make the most out this player while he was with us.
Seems like the guy hasn’t taken falling from grace on the elite football fields of the world stage very well, to what can only be described, as some late flourishing journeyman.
Difficult to adapt I suppose, when your entire life from childhood, to manhood, has revolved around the game of football.
From a footballing perspective, he did a sterling job for us in his best years… and I would only wish him the best in his choices from here on in…
On a purely ethics principle… I’m sure he made the choices he did based upon his own opinions alone… His life, his choices.!
I actually randomly watched extended highlights of Monaco’s last home league game and was surprised by how completely empty their stadium was. I knew it was a small stadium but it literally had maybe 500 people there.
Every one of them a multi millionaire.
And/or tax exile.
It’s long been the biggest issue for them becoming an actual real club. Their average attendance is typically only around 2-3k. Even during the susscessful period when they had Falcao and Mbappe up top they were only getting 8-9k
As for Hendo, I’m going to hold off on believing the negative framing of this until we see more evidence of it.
Hendo just wants to go to Monaco to avoid paying tax.
I think in 19-20 , we’ve had Hendo who (among other players) played really well… even was nominated for awards etc and did win the FWA award too.
Probably got into Hendo’s head that he was a better player than what he actually was.
The mentality that helps some players get to the top is often misaligned with their place in their world once they are physically no longer able to play at that level. If he is acting like a bit of a problem now he would not be the first player of his type to navigate that transition into the late part of his career in a disruptive way.
I think we would have probably seen some negativity from him had he not moved on last summer because despite his good attitude in being willing to fight for his place with the new signings, the likely outcome of him not playing very much would have likely been a problem. But that is just how this stuff is. Souness and Phil Thompson didnt speak a good word to each other for about 20 years because Thompson’s saltiness over the way he felt he was moved out of seniority at the club and ultimately out of the club entirely when that went sour. He was no different a person or quality of pro when being a salty bitch than he was when captaining us to European Cup wins, he just found himself in a different situation that was less well suited to that burning desire that had previously been a benefit.
And there are some players whose physical traits don’t matter so much even with the advancement of age. They still continue to be very good players capable of playing at the highest level.
Henderson probably wasn’t one of them. Neither were Fabinho , Gini for that matter as well.
Milner probably was one of the guys who could keep up(despite being older than Hendo). Age does play a part at the end but I don’t recall Milly looking out of sorts towards the end of his Liverpool career as much as what Henderson did towards his end. Admittedly, Henderson at that time was facing far more minutes on the pitch than what Milly was facing.
Its Klopp who gets the best out of him, and his strength is a perfect fit to help us get the best out of Trent. He did contribute a lot, but he’s nowhere near the key element of our success.
