Ex-player: Neco WILLIAMS

If that’s what they’re calling him on the socials that’s really unfair and ridiculous. Just complete toxic horseshit.

I haven’t seen anyone here at TAN call him that. Even going back to TIA, we’ve all been cheering for his development and success.

Not to attack Page, because I think he’s done a fair job in strange circumstances, but the lack of cohesion in the Wales squad combined with Neco’s versatility has not helped.
20 years old, and an inexperienced 20 years, and he’s played both sides of a four, both sides of a five and in the midfield, all in five or six games (most of which he hasn’t started).
I still have plenty of faith in him, maybe not here, but any malice directed at the boy (which I haven’t seen myself) is a fucking joke.

There is also the question of what is Wales level at a major tournament. Last 16 seems about right. People can slag off players all they like, but it feels to me that these lads are getting Wales exactly where they should be.

True. I said exactly the same thing about Southgate.

I think he’s definitely got talent but not sure if he will ever make it here so anyone prepared to pay 10m for him I would take it especially if the cash helps bring in a midfielder or forward.

Nothing personal. I’m sure he’s a good lad, but he is not going to make it at Liverpool. We should take the highest offer.

Tsimikas is our backup to Andy. He cost £11m, and a salary of £60k per week

Neco is our backup to TAA. From our academy, and a salary of £25k per week.

If Klopp feels Neco can improve and be a decent backup to a world class TAA, then no point in flogging for £10m. A decent backup would cost more than that, plus a wage similar to Tsimikas rather than Neco.

The club feels Conor Bradley is more than adequate to replace Neco.

At the same age as Conor, TAA made his debut and went on to make a grand total of 12 appearances in the first season. In his second season, he rotated with Gomez. Klopp made sure not to overplay him/expose him and take him out of the team at times, as you should do with any young player.

If TAA get’s injured, we can’t rely on an 18 year old to make 30 games. So if Conor is rated that highly, it makes more sense in rotating him as a backup with Neco.

Valid Points
I don’t see Neco as a backup to TAA though. Worst case is keep Ox/Milner there so as to reduce the load off of Trent and allow Conor to grow into this.

No idiots on Twitter.

Not a fan of Neco. Movement of his body seems so uncoordinated.

I’d still keep him to have a ‘specialist’ RB BackUp.

Think he looked OK in the Euro.

He should stick around. With regular CBs (and in turn regular MFs) in place, Klopp will intend to give Robertson and Trent as much breather possible.

Good goal.

Easy to say, but he needs to show more of that confidence in a game. When he broke through he was far more adventurous in the opposition third than we’ve seen in his past 5-10 performances.

Hopefully he gets there though, cracking goal.

Funny searching his name on twitter now and seeing people saying he should be playing on the wing because of this goal.

It’s pretty amazing how reactionary people are.
