Yes their manager has mentioned it.
But the latest rumours suggest they are interested in Daniel Sturridge?
Sturridge and Brewster got along exceptionally well while at Liverpool, and honestly I think Brewsterās game is more like Sturridgeās than anyone current at Liverpool. Sheffield United could do worse than picking up both of them.
Their physios and doctors must be short of work if they are considering bringing Studge in. His muscles are made of playdough.
I think this comment shows how underrated/underappreciated or forgotten Sturridge was in terms of abilities. Maybe his last few injury plagued years have destroyed peopleās memories of him? But peak Sturridge was as fast as the likes of Mane and Salah and his ball control was through the roof. He was lethal but also creative. First 43 league games he had 32 goals yeah (all anyone seems to remember about him) but also 14 assists. To put that into context Mane is world class and still āonlyā has 10 more assists in 129 league games (yet again āonlyā 22 more goals than that too). That first 18 months of Sturridge he was proper world class. As good as anyone has ever been in the prem in my eyes. It was the years after that destroyed peopleās image of him. Brewster is more in line with an Owen (with less pace), Defoe or Bent. He may learn the trickery and technicality (although I think Klopp would be keeping him if it was a dead cert he could). But he is lacking on top end pace which is an inhibitor for the type of forward he is.
Sheffield Utd will be humming and hawing all the way to relegation. Chris Wilder is the next Eddie Howe.
If the rumours of a Ā£17mill offer for him are true and Sheffield want to low ball us in this new covid19 transfer window, then we need to place a Ā£25mill buyback clause AND if we donāt want him at a later date a 50% sell on clause.I think that would be fair with what they are offering us.
Confirmed, I wish him all the best I think heāll do very well at Sheffield.
Its the perfect deal for both sides.
This are the details of the deal
Surely thatās including add-ons???
The article in the Athletic does not say.
Have to say that at that fee and with those clauses, Edwards appears to have done it again.
Brewster will do well at Sheffield I think, god knows they need a bit more incision up front.
Brewster is a prospect no doubt. Wish him all the best. The fee for him with hardly any first team games to his name in this covid climate shows the potential he has. Hopefully he can fufill at least some of it.
Really wanted him to take Origiās role for this season, but not to be. Nice to see that he can fight for a place in the Sheff Utd team and settle down. Can get into that team easier than ours. Sometimes itās luck you need for the breakthrough, but (and good for us) our front three Mane, Mo and Bobby hardly miss any games.
The injury he had could have been a disaster, but he has battled back. My only problem at that time was the official website was pushing him into media things when he had not even played for the first team. Was always a worry that he would be more a a media exposure guy for LFC TV than an actual footballer. Now he has a chance to get some game time.
He needs to work hard and avoid the troubles of players like Solanke. If thereās a team crying out for goals, Sheff Utd are the obvious frontrunners.
Very good deal for all parties.
Sheffield are good at the back but lack goals. However i donāt believe Brewster will ever be as good as Ings is at the moment.
Ā£23.5m seems like it would include add-ons in the current climate. If itās the base fee then thatās ridiculous business by Edwards. Having said that the sell on % is lower than Iād expect so perhaps there was compromise from both parties with Sheffield paying a higher base fee in return for us agreeing a lower sell-on %.
The buy-back clause is rather pointless. If Brewster doesnāt want to rejoin us it has zero value.
For his career this is the right move. Sheffield and Chris wilder could use someone like Rhian , especially given that their foward options right now havent actually been able to produce goals in 3 premier league games so far. I hope he does well and grows into his new team role.
Club could have lost him on a free transfer two years ago, they are now getting 20+ million pounds for him and heās getting to play in Premier League. This should suit both parties, heās a really good, level-headed lad whom I wish nothing but the best. Itās a shame that it didnāt work out for him at Liverpool but that buy-back clause perhaps suggests that he might have a future at Liverpool still - not that I expect it. Funny how Liverpool brought back youth rejects from other PL clubs and made pretty decent profit on them, all while giving them a platform to play at relatively high level.
Good point thatā¦thatās over Ā£40m the club have sold two Chelsea youth players for (I wouldnāt call them rejects though), when theyāve scored 1 senior goal for LFC between them.
Good luck, Rhian.
Gonna get him into my FPL.
His knee injury really curtailed his growth at the club. Heās a real talent, and I hope he goes on to do well under Wilder. They need a goal scorer, and thatās what theyāre getting.
Once Jota came in, it pushed Brewster even further down the pecking order.
Edwards - having another decent transfer window. Ā£23.5m, regardless of how it is structured, represents decent business surely! Just need to offload a couple more for nice fees and we are probably about evens for the summer window.
Any chance of a spare CB Edwards, albeit Williams looked good last night.
