Ex-player: Sadio MANÉ

Let’s hope it all blows over soon.

As someone who is multi racial and who grew up in an ethnically diverse neighborhood I can tell you that lighter skinned people in such a background often make fun of darker skinned individuals, sometimes in jest and at other times rather more seriously. One of my cousins is darker than two midnights put together and two of his nicknames was ‘Blackie or Dusty(taken from the black dust you get from charcoal).’ Was natural enough to us not to have any racial connotation put to it. He was just really dark. :man_shrugging:

Happens more than you would think although I can’t really speak for the world at large, tbf.

Because racial politics is really really complicated.

Fake news !

Sadio is not the victim here tbf… he was criticized on the pitch and apparently took this very badly. The discussion became heated and escalated. There can always be arguments and a dispute on the pitch (it was already the case between Sadio and Mo from time to time), but it is just not acceptable to beat a teammate, that´s is just awful behavior, no matter what.

He is now suspended for the next homegame and got a fine. (because Leroy asked for a mild punishment. )

At least it is put to rest now, both players have kind of made up and Mane made an apology. This out of character for Mane to hit someone though. There wasn’t any major issues at LFC.

Remember this ?

Yes, i remember that moment, Sadio was angry with Mo, but he didn’t hit Mo.

I guess, the CL high pressure game just got too much and things weren’t going well for the team and there was alot of frustration all round the teamĺ, tempers flared up

I have soft spot for Sadio too.

Enough of the romanticism of a return to Anfield. The ship has sailed.

Loved him, great player for us and disappointed when he left for a “bargain for Bayern”. Well that opinion has changed and maybe another great sale.

Surely the black sledge is a hoax or PR machine spreading rumours to justify the punch. Excuse my cynicism.

But has this given BM a convenient excuse to sack him?

No i don’t think so, he’s been there a little while, plus a change of manager hasn’t helped.

Jürgen is probably just much better at making sure that things like this don’t get out and stay behind closed doors. But that’s typical for Bayern and unfortunately it all happened in front of the entire team and some of the coaches.

Because he knew it would work as a wind up? You don’t have to believe it and most racial slurs aren’t really deeply held. The really problematic racism is systemic and unvoiced.

Also I’d imagine under Klopp our dressing room is much friendlier than Hollywood FC. Any disagreements are going to be coming from a different starting point. Although now our lads have been together so long they may have gotten too nice and friendly with each other, hence the need for the captains’ 'angry 'enderson routine. We need to get that creative anger back!

Love Mane. He had the shit kicked out of him on the pitch when he played for us and rarely let it affect him. The racism he had to deal with where he was regularly penalised for fouls on him means he is more than entitled to eventually lose his rag with some liver lillied cheaty bitch who cost him a PL title.

He was absolutely useless, completely overrated.

I still see so many pining for him, but he never did anything on the pitch that showed that he had a future with us.

More importantly, why wouldn’t he have been suspended for that too?

The season he was signed - for 18 odd million which was too whack for us then - we looked ready to finally win another PL

Yes, and he was a large part of why we didn’t. A complete waste of money. I remember reading something at the time, although I can’t substantiate it now, where Alonso said in an interview that he’d look up to pass the ball forward to Keane, only to find him next to him.

Massively overrated, and sometimes it made me wonder whether it was simply because he was Irish.

I agree he wasn’t worth the very large fee we spent on him and that season we missed out because of too many draws where we lacked a Suarez type creative goalscorer - so I can see why a player like Keane grabbed the attention.

Confused about your Oirish thing. We signed him just because he was Irish? Not sure I follow that. If you think he is rated higher than he should be because he is Irish again not sure that really makes sense either. I think he got lots of attention because he kept moving clubs for large fees, and had a spell at Inter a very young age. But I’m guessing in Ireland they liked him as he was one of only a handful of players who weren’t absolute lumpen cloggers.
