Ex-player: Sadio MANÉ

100% agree with that call. Everyone has a price and he is probably at his top dollar right now.

Salah has shown no signs of stagnating let alone regressing. He’s as fit as ever and his all-round play has improved.

I want Salah to see out his contract with us.

To me the Saudi league makes a lot of sense for some of these African players as a league to go to as they pass their prime. Lots of money. Arabia is surely not sub-Saharan Africa, but there is also the whole Pan-African thing. Not surprising to see Mane head there and a player like Mahrez.

That’s true. But you could say the same thing about Mane 12 months ago.

I don’t wish to derail this into a sell Salah thread, (maybe too late) I love what he does for the team. Maybe, just maybe, you could be tempted by a big offer if it came along for a 31 yo.

We shouldn’t be selling anyone else.

I also think Salah is still vital.

If we sell Salah we probably sell any chance of winning the title. Also clubs will know what we have burning our pocket. Soton knowing we’ve just made 50m is slightly different to knowing we’ve made 150m

Sorry, not sure what you mean by this. What does Saudi Arabia have to do with a ‘whole Pan-African thing’?

Because Arabia is the birthplace and spiritual center of Islam. It’s a close neighbor of Africa, 40% of whose population is Muslim. After all, doesn’t Mo bow toward Mecca after scoring his goals? Mahrez, Mane, Salah. All Muslims. They are not going to view their own moves to the Saudi League the way liberal Westerners might.

Muslims are a pretty diverse bunch. Whilst they are likely to find adjusting to a conservatively Islamic country relatively easier, it doesn’t mean that it matches their personal values. It’s a bit like saying that anyone who is nominally Catholic would want to play in Italy.

That wasn’t the post that I was replying to?

Edit- sorry, I think I pressed the general reply button which just adds to the confusion.

Mane’s manager has made a statement that Sane racially abused Mane.

Not surprised. Mané was here for years and there were not even any hints of him being aggressive.

Before he came here there were question marks about Mane’s temperament. But as you say, there does not appear to have been any issue on that front while here.

I think it is also telling that Tuchel in his press conference recently implied that Mane leaving Bayern was more down to the club not giving the player the support he should have had (and seeing this as an opportune resolution to what ever the real underlying problems were).

Consistency more than temperament. He did seem to get put off in the pitch quite a bit at Southampton and even at Liverpool. But this was purely on his on pitch.

Off the pitch , Mane for all intents was a model professional

Mane is fiercely competitive, uber professional, and does not tolerate well his team mates not putting in the same effort as he does to try to win. Bayern never seemed like the right move for him in that regard. And while I am biased, albeit biased on the basis of exposure to how he conducts himself rather than emotion, if you ever tell me that Mane was in a physical confrontation with a teammate Im always going to be inclined to think they are fault. When you tell me that person is Sane…
