I’d take a player not playing well and scoring over an attacker playing well and not scoring
It might be total bull. My ex bro in law does like a tall tale!
But I dont think the info came direct from a Lfc employee that would be madness on his part.
But my ex bro in law knows a lot of people within the game.
He knows Jonjos Shelley’s dad who told him he’d joined Liverpool a few months before it was announced.
Too late to backtrack now Walshy… You blew his cover big time :0)
Haha…
Swear Gower is Liverpool’s scout for Holland. Surely he wouldn’t have a say in the Taki transfer ? Presume all scouts do is scout lads out good lads on a list and email the list to Edwards and co where they will look into then if they financial side is realistic then you can go into the more detailed scouting side.
Not doubting your mate but no offense to Gower I’d doubt he could be pulling shots like that to tell Edwards to go sign lads
When I say he recommended Taki I don’t think my mate meant him personally, but him and the scouting team as a whole.
I amended my bit on Davies on my original post as that come across originally as Gower had said Davies was a panic buy…that read totally wrong. Me and my bro in law said it was a panic buy not Gower.
Oh my bad I read it wrong.
He has played on the leftwing, sometimes cutting inside or making run into the box. Though he scored in his two league games, he wasn’t that involved. Wrong position?
Think we will keep him if it’s EL for us next season and cash in on him (Saints will pay good money) if we somehow reach the CL.
It’s worth revisiting Jesse Marsch’s comments, after the transfer, on where Taki would be most effective in our setup:
Marsch has said that Minamino would best fit in Firmino’s role, playing in a more withdrawn position and creating chances for his team-mates.
“He won’t be the best at playing the position that Salah and Sadio play, because they are used in very explosive transition movements,” the American told The Blood Red podcast.
"I think he could be good in Roberto Firmino’s position where against the ball, he is ready to do some pressing, but then with the ball, he comes into almost a 10 position for build-up and gets in the box to score goals.
"Firmino is so good at it but I think that’s something Taki can do as well.
“And I think he can play the eight position that they play in the midfield, with the two wide spots where he’s ready to press and help pick up balls, but he’s also part of the build-up phases.”
Dear Takumi,
Hope you are having a nice time down by the coast. Yeah, yeah, we all saw the goals; well done.
Now don’t forget you are still a Red and today is the derby you so sorely missed. Make the most of it. An elbow in cheek of Richarlison would nice as would be a knee in groin of Pickford. A goal or two would be okay, I suppose. So, no pressure.
Regards,
Iftikhar
I don’t mean to burst your bubble but I think he’s injured and will miss the Everton game.
Liverpool DNA
Have anyone watched him play for Southampton. I don’t think left wing is his best position and would be more useful in a more central position.
I have watched a few Southampton games. All hurry scurry like he was with us … but not much to show for it. He made very little impact yesterday and was subbed off.
I think his loan is generally going “well” and there’ll be clubs willing to pay at least £20m (including add ons) in the summer but I struggle to see him being useful for us. We might keep him next year but business wise he represents a chance to get a large amount of “profit” on the profit and loss accounts and some cash on the cashflow side. His wages might well pay the increase for a few extensions as well with VvD, Fabinho and Alisson all needing extensions from a sporting and business point of view!
Lots of running around but not really doing much.
@Rambler @RedOpium sounds just about right . I have seen some match highlights and he puts in lots of efforts and energy, but it seems he is clueless about what’s expected of him.
I think he is our only saleable asset, really.
The other thing not in Taki’s favour is that depending how the rest of the season goes, we might find we need a smaller squad because of a lack of European Competition.
You have always undervalued our players though, quite frequently by less than half. It also depends on what you are looking at profit/loss account, cashflow, wage bill? Keita for instance coming off the books releases the kind of value on the books per year and wages that could land you a Sancho this year or Haaland next year but would likely only do a little bit for profit and only a reasonable boost to cashflow. Firmino, even at much lower than he has been valued at in the past would be a massive boost on cashflow, profit accounts and make decent room on the wage bill but does almost nothing to clear off value on the books. Even Wijnaldum coming to the end of his contract creates more room on the books than a Firmino sale.
