Ex-Player: Takumi MINAMINO

Jota scored in his first 10 minute cameo and his second start. In his earliest games he played 215 minutes notching up 3 goals. He wasn’t given a run of games he earned them.

Yeah he started well, but if Bobby had been fit and running as he was before, Jota’s appearances would have been limited. That’s the life of squad players. But Jota did the most out of his appearances, and that’s why he has his status now.

But yesterday night, he wasn’t one bit better than Taki. Just sayin’.

if he pots that one last night, it’s a different result and he’s the hero. seemed like he had a decent run and just snatched at the finish.

Nice enough guy, and I doubt anyone will be harder on him than his own conscience. the Japanese have a different mindset when it comes to sports and training. I bet he does 1000 volleys over the next week.

You aren’t remembering correctly, his first 5 appearances included 3 off the bench and his two starts were at right and left wing. Firmino also started both. Jota got a run because he earned it.

I have a Stepford Hall of Shame worthy post soon after the transfer, someone was arguing Taki “sucked” and we should have bought Halaand instead and I was saying Taki was likely the better fit for us. :kissing_heart::joy::see_no_evil:

I have stood by the boy since day 1 but I’m not so sure it’s gonna work out for him here.

@Semmy and @sandsoftime got it right. He wasn’t worse than others last night and it’s the miss that’s putting all the focus on him. Also, if you don’t have a clarity of role, your performances will be patchy.

Takumi isn’t in the same level as Mane, Salah, Bobby, and Jota. But he is a good backup option.

pretty plain to see that Taki is 5th option behind those front 3 + Jota who is the 4th in rotation. Origi 6th.

not sure how much quality people are expecting from 5/6 choice forward. He plays more like a #10 though which is what bugs me, he’s too generalized in his skill set and needs a but more cutting edge. whereas Origi is a straight-up #9 and plays like one but cannot stay healthy to save his fucking life.

I’d like Taki to progress but he needs more minutes which will be tough to do. Definitely a gamble by Edwards but a cheap one doubtful if we lose more than a few million on him, at worst. Sad thing is, that’s too easy to say.

Like an earlier poster noted… Taki should start taking our corners :upside_down_face:

When you consider, the Arsenal goalkeeper is not even in the picture, it just makes the miss even worse. Just side foot it into the fucking net!

He’s not good enough for us. I’d hoped he would develop in a similar manner to Son; similar physique, similar position and style of play and similar problems in getting adapted and playing regularly. But while you could see Son was technically proficient with a good sense of movement back then, Minamino just isnt; he has a touch like a trampoline at times, his passing and movement is inconsistent and his finishing is patchy.

Besides the fact that Minamino is not good enough… I totally disagree.

Let’s start with the basics Son is 1.83m and 78kg versus Minamino’s 1.74m and 67 kg … Where are they similar in terms of physique?

A lot of Son’s playing style involves his strength and direct running. Where do we see that in Minamino?

Son also didn’t have too much problems getting playing time right away so not sure about adaptability problems. Started 1 in 3 games after missing pre-season with Spurs??? Not bad for a young player new to the league and he started flying the next season when he was a semi-regular… So don’t agree with adaptability problems.

Completely different players.

It’s about upper body strength, look at Mo now vs his body when he played for Chelsea. Vastly different, and makes a huge differences in being able to shield and protect the ball.

But….

They have same eyes!

That miss against Arsenal is eating him. He didn’t shoot after getting the ball from Bobby press, instead he passed it to Bobby who passed it back to him. But I guess the goal will do a world of good to his confidence. YNWA.

Never saw a player so happy for other team mates: Bobby. What a guy.

Doesn’t he always look like that, except when he does those no look goals (takes so much concentration that)?

Yeah, I meant always, not only today.

Glad he scored.

Hat trick v Arsenal in the week now please :white_check_mark:
