Or Injuries.
Yeah, thatās a different kind of chance, sometimes you donāt have to earn it as much, but itās just circumstances. AFCON will be a chance for a few players, weāll see what they do with it. But Klopp will still have the possibility to tweak certain things.
He was running outside according to Kloppās presser on Dec 31, so hopefully he will be available for Semi-finals.
Hugely disappointed, 2 good chances, including basically an open net and failed to deliver.
Not good enough, sell him.
Hopefully that miss doesnāt break him. He is a decent player.
What can you do, sometimes you āwaitā for these players to leave an Austrian league and they become much more expensive if they do well. Sometimes you take a more early gamble, hoping to predict heāll be good. Not a disaster if some players from Austria to England find simply too difficult. Itās not like Southampton were mad about playing him all the time and bringing him back either. I think he needs to go to another league probably, maybe Germany.
So disappointing last night, could have been the hero.
Everyone was atrocious last night.
We have waited long enough for him to get it together, not good enough, sell him.
Donāt think we are going to get anyone better for backup roles.
The problem is there are just many players that we can categorise these days that should be sold.
Takumi - Not good enough
Milly - Old and not the same as before
Keita - Always injured
Ox - Doesnāt contribute when needed
Thiago - Always injured
Origi - Always injured and doesnāt contribute when needed
One of Bobby/ Mane - not the same, need new spark.
Soon Hendo will be added to that list as well.
Matip has turned around for this season else he would have been another one.
If we do try to make these changes, will we actually get all good players who stay injury free? We probably have numbers now in defense but have missed the beat in upgrading and tweaking the midfield a bit as well. And Trent still has to play every single game which is sad.
Curtis and Elliott for Gini was a good start if we are looking for our young guns to be a part of this transition, but weāll need more of them to start stepping up now! Else the wholesale changes may not help us perhaps because we definitely wonāt buy like for like replacements position wise for all.
People used to say this before we got Jota.
Jota isnāt a backup, Takumi, Origi is.
He was, at the point he was bought loads thought nobody decent would want to come and play back up/bench role to 3 such consistent and effective starters. Jota came in and was successful enough to make it 3 starters from 4 instead. No reason why someone else canāt come in and do the same so itās 3 starters from 5.
I reckon Tak is trying too hard. Heās desperate to have the impact that Jota had (and continues to have) and seems to come onto the pitch with something to prove - which would normally be a good thing but in his case it is affecting his decision making. His link up play seemed a little selfish, there were a couple of passes he should have made instead of shooting and the shot to win it in the end - you could just see his eye light up at the opportunity to deliver a consequential moment but he snatched at it. Contrast that to Origi, who generally comes on, does his thing and has provided (a number of) consequential moments.
Not sure what the solution is. Maybe heāll get a run of games and heāll find a way throughā¦
Origi is, on the other hand, literally the most chilled out person in the universe.
This is probably the plan. Play him until he doesnāt feel the urge to rush things. We donāt have much of a choice until AFCON is over anyway.
There are 2-3 games before Mane and Salah returns, plus he should in the contention for the Cardiff game too.
Thatās the key point imo. Any player would struggle without a good run of games in the team. Jota had the good fortune to establish himself while Bobby was out.
That being said, I think itās clear that Jota has a higher ceiling than Taki, but stillā¦ I found him quite lively yesterday night. His miss was awful, but he got into that position in the first place. Canāt say the same from Jota nor Bobby, both were very anonymous throughout the game.
The thing with Minamino thoughā¦
He doesnāt seem to have a position he can call his own and stake a claim against itā¦
He just seems powder-puff wherever he has played to date, and it is very sad to see.
Anyway, lets hope he starts to perform and can take some memories away from Anfield when he retiresā¦
To date however, nothing of any noteā¦!
