Ex-player Trent Alexander-Arnold

I did wonder if there was a possibility they just bought him to flip him at a profit. They are not above that kind of shit

Yeah I said it at the time. Hopefully the silly sod negotiated a low buyout clause or he’ll possibly end up like Michael Owen.

He’ll still make the world cup squad though. This is Tuchel experimenting around with his team. The uproar if Trent isn’t picked for the world cup squad will be massive.

That won’t bother Tuchel much. If Trent doesn’t get any playing time and only comes off the bench for a few minutes every now and then, Tuchel will be able to justify it.

How’s that Balon d’Or coming along, Trent lad?

He had wayy more of a chance of winning individual honours at Liverpool than anywhere else. No other top team has the luxury of leveraging his offensive skillset while covering up his defensive shortcomings.

At this stage of his career I highly doubt he can change.

He made his bed, I’m not interesting in mocking him it just seems really sad.

I think the balon’dor line was just an excuse by Trent to get out of Liverpool.

He wanted to be with his best mate Jude.

Not interested in mocking him either. Have respect with what he’s done with and for Liverpool and also what the club has done for him. I wish him the best.

He’s not a Liverpool player anymore. End of. Whatever he does in his career isn’t for me to judge.

It’s not a disaster yet. He’s always been in and out with England for reasons we all know.
Now it’s up to him to claim his place over Carvajal, which he’s capable of doing.
I’m not going to cry or gloat either way.

Yep…and he’s not playing either.

Great player, just not a great defender or a great midfielder.

Even by Mcnulty’s standards it’s a bit daft to write an article like that after two games.

If it’s daft to write off Kerkez after a couple of games, then it’s daft to write off Trent.

His biggest danger is their recruiting strategy. I wonder if they thought they were buying a right back. We know Trent isn’t that - he is a playmaker and needs others to cover for what he bring offensively.

Imagine he ends up playing for Newcastle United and Man U

Precisely this. Remember everyone writing of Mbappe not just this time last year but probably during the whole first half of the season? I wonder what those people are thinking now. They are not stupid, they didn’t work for years on signing him on a free, only to bench and flip him.

The biggest mistake Trent might (and I say might because I’m sure he’ll work to try and get into the first team) have made with this move, is going to a club that could afford to pay full price for him but would never have gone for him if they had too.

That it was a vanity signing that didn’t make them a better team?

I don’t know that anyone grumbling about the move was ever questioning Mbappe as a player but more the sense in Real putting so much into getting it done.

Trent has gone there with a narrative already written. Real are a soap opera of a club with a fan base always looking for a convenient scape goat they can absolutely hammer. When a high profile players with question marks about an element of his game lands there it is cat nip for that element of the club and so he is now, after a couple of dodgy appearances, exactly where it was always set up to get to.
