Ex-player Trent Alexander-Arnold

This explains the local Liverpool supporters from Carra.

The boos were proper guttural, which surprised me. You had your natural boos when Real Madrid had the ball, but as soon as he touched it, the tone was something else. The closest I can recall a player being booed like that at Anfield was Gary Neville in 2006/07 after he celebrated in front of our away fans at Old Trafford, and we drew Man Utd at Anfield in the FA Cup weeks later.

I’d said beforehand that I didn’t want him to get booed. But had a few beers and found the change in noise levels when he touched the ball quite funny. Ended up like this at the tv!

Is that the Evertonian seagull? They should have had Fred MacAulay there last night.

The reaction was more vicious than I expected, but I don’t particularly mind the boos. It’s all pantomime, anyway. I’m sure Owen’s somewhere having a little indignant whinge about it before getting lost in a painfully tedious monologue about his own career and forgetting who Trent is.

Defacing the mural is gross, though.

I have no problem with booing Trent as an opponent. My thing is that we never should have booed him when he was still playing for us.

My recollection is that Suarez got a nice applause when he was first announced, and then was booed mercilessly thereafter. Sterling was booed from the go because of how he left. Coutinho wasn’t booed when he was playing for us even when he clearly was agitating for a move to Barca - even with a fake back injury. Then he sucked so much at Barca that I don’t think anyone cared enough to boo when he came back with them.

Then Domino’s followed up with ā€œyou’ll never watch aloneā€.

Why isn’t this merged. I’m told there’s already a topic when I start one by the forum police?

Merged with what?

Must confess to not being a natural boo merchant, but I might have struggled not to at Anfield the other day.

You missed the classic ā€œThe grass isn’t always greener on the other sideā€ thread.

Torres and Owen are saying hi from that one

That’s a classic from which we all can learn.

Probably need to add Coutinho to that list…

Yeah, I noticed that. Did they have any other interaction?
