Second biggest reason is no Diaz. He would create space (and assists) for Mo with his runs.
I must admit I didnāt think we would miss Diaz and Trent as much as we have. Gakpo isnāt even close and RB has been a huge problem due to injuries. Nobody is replacing Trents creativity from RB unless we want to teleport prime Gerrard back to fill in for a season. If Trent was even a reasonably solid defender with good positional sense heād probably be the best RB in the world. As it happens he can barely get in the England squad. But yes, we have missed him a hell of a lot this year.
Chaos!![]()
Though these things are said however we have no evidence that that would be the case.
Best just accept our levels have fallen all over the parc. More likely due to the coaching than any 2 players leaving.
How could we have this āevidenceā you require though? Create an alternative universe where they are still here and then compare the 2 realities? ![]()

Itās an āeducatedā opinion based on watching Gakpo vs Diaz and everyone in the squad (except Ramsay) vs Trent at RB and coming to the conclusion that we are worse off for both players not being here.
I hear this all the time, Trentās only had 7 assists in the Champs and PL last year!
And? His passing doesnāt have to lead to goals in order to make a difference.
So Moās lack of goals this season is just down to Trentās passing, pull me another one.
@dildo-swaggins didnāt specifically say goals but numbers which presumably includes assists. He also was clear I thought in attributing Trentās absence as being only a partial factor.
Who said that??? Youāre just making things up now.
Apologies, I must have been half asleep I now see the whole post.
Fair enough. Makes a change for someone to be honest and say they got the wrong end of the stick on this forum. Most seem to just dig their heels in! Nice one.
I do it often with the Missus, so Iām use to it ![]()
We knew Trent was a unicorn and even if we replaced him with a good replacement there was going to be a change in what we got out of the role that changed the team dynamic, so I get the questions being posed. But we saw a lot of Conor last season, almost always in replacement for Trent. What we saw was a team that continued exactly as normal with him in the side with nothing in that time that suggesting our form, or Moās, was tied to those unique traits of a once in a generation style RB.
Maybe it just took a summer of game planning for teams to figure out how to respond to the absence of Trent and what it meant to our team, but I generally think coaches at this level are smart enough to respond better to such an big change as Trent for Bradley (or even Gomez) so as to not need that amount of time to game plan for it.
Good post.
My main reasoning for the reply, is that Moās drop off is down to Mo, he has brilliant movement and is always an outlet, but he just canāt beat a man anymore, his pace is not what it was and he just isnāt taking his chances to the same level he was.
Unfortunately, age catches up with everyone.
First game against Bournemouth he had a stinker. He had opportunities galore that he misplayed so badly they failed to register statistically as chances. He got the service. The team created the opportunities. He just had lead in his boots. That is unfortunately how most of the season has played out.
That is what happens with age, the sharpness goes and you just struggle to sort you feet out at crucial stages.
You can still have the fitness, even a semblance of speed but your feet sometimes feel they belong to someone else as the message doesnāt get there from the brain.
Shouldnāt laugh.
It should be recognized that Carvajal is a massive cunt and one of the biggest sources of toxicity in the club
I know he made his bed and all, but it must be really jarring to go from Klopp to this even if everyone in the universe knew that this would happen.
