Expectations for the season

Having looked back over the Fulham game again there just isnt the effort from the players.

Think we have a lot of extremely tired players who are just going through the motions now trying to get through till the end of the season.
I think we ploughed on after all the injuries as long as we could but as soon as we started to lose I think alot of players put the cues in the rack.

I think all of that is the best case scenario tbh. We play like Klopp has lost the dressing room imo. Whatever it is we need to stop the rot and soon or we are going to see change that we dont want. I love Klopp and this team but we are in a results based industry and eventually a change of some sorts will have to be made if this continues into next season.

It will never happen as those competitions in the summer are all sanctioned by FIFA. Screwing with FIFA is not a good move…

If Villa win their 2 in hand they’ll go above us, if they win 1 they’ll be level. The silver lining in all that is there’s currently a gap after 9 so we just have to nick a win here and there, cobble together a few draws, and we will stay top half.

“Oh how the mighty have fallen.” :disappointed_relieved:

I didn’t see that. I saw a patched up team, comprised of unfit, knackered and poor quality players, trying to win a game of football but coming up short. Didn’t see any lack of effort from anyone.

Daniel Sturridge on Liverpool:

"Great players and managers always figure out the solution to the problems.

"And I have no doubt Liverpool will be back to the team we know and love.

“Played some of the best football in Europe the past 4/5 years so this bad patch feels different. International break will reset the engine trust me.”

Love the fact that we have just one game in the next 24 days.

Not sure about all y’all but I need a break.

Let’s first beat Wolves on Monday, shall we? After that, we don’t play for 18 days. :sunglasses:

Do Mané and Keïta stay home just like our Brasil players?

Bulk of the squad will be on international duties, so it’s not actually a break.

Not sure. Namibia and Swaziland are in UK red list.

Under FIFA rules we don’t need to let them go no.

I think that the number of players going out for these internationals could make or break the rest of our season.

  • So, our Brazilian players stay in England. That’s Bobby, Fab and Alli.
  • Hendo stays at home with an outside chance to eventually come back fit again.
  • Our African players Mo, Naby and Mané? Situation isn’t clear-cut, but if Klopp has any chance to retain them, go for it by any means. I hope they’ll stay back in Liverpool. Mané especially looks like he could do with a good rest and some work on the training ground. As for Naby, we know what will happen if he’s allowed to join his national team… :cold_sweat:
  • The key players going out will probably be Trent, Robbo, Gini, Thiago, Jota. It’s especially unfortunate for our two full-backs. They look spent, especially Robbo. Gini is a machine, Thiago might be a sub for the Spaniards, and Jota can use the games to get back to full match-fitness.
  • From our first-team-squad, Shaq will join Switzerland too. I hope he’ll come through unscathed as he has a bit history of injuring himself while with the national team. Tsimikas might be off playing with Greece as well. Has Origi been called up?
  • Milner will be here, as well as Nat, Kabak, Adrian, Davies, Ox.
  • Not sure about our young lads Neco and Rhys Williams.

In any case, a good part of our squad will stay at the club. That is good. Some valuable opportunity for Kloppo to regroup, train and rest and train and rest and train his players for a lengthy period of time.

With a bit of luck, we’ll be a different animal when coming out of this break. Fingers crossed!

There’s no reason to let Mane go, since Senegal has already qualified.

Jota is a tough one as I don’t know if he will be allowed to link up for the home game but can potentially play in the away ones, he is also a sub so they probably won’t ask him for that home one if it allows them to get him for the away one.

I would say it’s 4 or 5 at most going out, really handy not to have the Brazilians travelling away, FIFA extended the ruling on allowing clubs to restrict call ups to April so I assume any who would be travelling to red list countries won’t.

Portugal home games have been shifted to Italy.

I think Neco, TAA, Kabak, Robertson, Tsimikas, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Keita, Jota, Salah and Origi will be attending NT duties.

London 2, Budapest 2, Sheffield 1, Birmingham 1. Our winning locations in 2021. I expect to see at least one more location added to that list, even if it’s not Liverpool.

The Premier League will end on May 23, 2021. After that most of the players will jet-off to their respective NT duties. There’re two rounds of WC Qualification games for Africa by June 15, 2021. Two rounds of WC Qualification games for South America is scheduled for June 3 and 8, 2021. However, there will be two more rounds of games to make up for the suspended games scheduled for this March. Then there’s the Euro 2020 scheduled for June 11-July 11, 2021. The Premier League 2021-22 is rumored to start on August 14, 2021.

All these leave very little time for proper rest & preseason. The African and South American contingent will not have any engagements after mid-June. However, heavyweights like England (Henderson & TAA), Holland (VVD), Portugal (Jota), Spain (Thiago) are expected to make deep runs and drag our key players along the way.

Not if he restricts Keita, he can actually pull everyone I believe under the FIFA rules.

Didn’t really count Neco and Tsimkas they will probably benefit from playing.

Yes I too think the likes of Neco, Tsimikas, Shaqiri will actually benefit from the NT games.

I’m not actually sure about the FIFA rule. What I understand managers can pull out their players if they are subjected to quarantine upon return from NT duties.

I thought it was an extension of an existing rule that they implemented.

I assume it was this that was extended, no actual explanation that it’s has to be specifically red listed.
