Expectations for the season

Expect far better from everyone. Coaches and players didn’t make themselves any favours last season.

If we play to our potential, we will comfortably finish in the top 4 and possibly win a trophy or two, but if we make a couple of astute signings, we will challenge for the title.

Unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to leave ourselves short again.

Top 4, lots of decent performances with maybe a trophy.

I expect us to try to win every game. What ever comes out of trying, I’ll accept.

Don’t see us keeping up with Cheaty. However I will be disappointed if we can’t manage to keep pace with Arsenal and I expect we can finish 2nd/3rd provided we address our weakness at CB and don’t have too many injuries.

Man U are going to end up with 360 points this season, if the refs keep up helping them out at this rate.

And anyday now the glaziers will sell the club, honestly it’s the very last time they will be accepting bids for the clubs, honestly they set a deadline for bids to be in don’t you know?

unless we can bring 1 or 2 more top quality players in,…which we wont, can stop teams walking through and creating lots of chances per game…then this season will be…interesting

Hope we are challenging for the title, and get back into CL.
A bit worried that unless a couple are brought in before the window closes injuries may make the dream a bit harder to happen.

Expectation: top four and win EL
Hope: Above plus a domestic cup
Dream: Domestic treble plus EL

No serious injuries
Qualifying for CL
Winning domestic Mickey Mouse cup
Winning FA
Winning EL
Winning PL
United relegated (dream)

In that order. Given our completely new midfield (except Curtis) will need time to bed in, I’d expect a strong 2024. If we’re in the top 3 at Christmas, I’ll be over the moon. Ultimately. this season, we need to finish in CL position.

I would take top 8 if it meant winning the EL and FA cup.

We’ll have a better idea after today’s game. Now we’ve got a solid midfield let’s just go back to 4-3-3 and stop playing people out of position. We’ve also got the best forward line in the league so if we can stop shipping goals the sky’s the limit.

So you’re not a fan of TAA playing the QB role…

I fear how this thread will look in five days’ time, especially if Newcastle do a number on us today… Even though I wasn’t pleased last season with failed Tchouameni pursuit and not strengthening the midfield, I had more optimism about how the season would pan out than I do for this season.

I can’t fully explain my emotions here but there is both fear that the club are failing Klopp and that there’s also no one there to challenge him over transfer dealings, leaving us short of reliable quality. Not bringing in a centre back and another midfielder on time will surely come back to bite us on the arse unless Quansah and Bajčetić exhibit a stratospheric rise over the next three months when injuries start piling up and Jones suddenly becomes the next Milner in terms of fitness record and his tactical adaptability.

That’s probably my take on this as well.

I’d give some blame to Klopp as well on this. He’s a great manager (probably the best around right now) but No manager should have this much control on transfers. Let the dedicated team do their job. Edwards got us Salah when he wasn’t Klopp’s first choice and we know how that’s turned out. Klopp seems to have a fixation for buying players who’ve played well against us. The likes of Minamino, Darwin, Caicedo all bear that out.

We need a sporting director and one who isn’t reporting to Klopp at the earliest. Get in Edwards if he’s still on a hiatus again.
FSG needed to put a stop to this earlier and get some players in so that the accusations of not giving Klopp enough support do not hold weight.

I don’t want anyone playing the QB role. This isn’t American football.

Was trolling - apologies. I knew the expression rubbed some the wrong way.

I just finished watching a recording of the win at Newcastle.

One of the hardest grounds to go to. Ten men. Three points.

Incredible mental strength to do that, not to mention the frightening attacking options we have.

Title challenge is now my expectation. [Mind you, I’d feel better with another defender and midfielder].

I’d still say top 4. That’s the bare minimum.

Another 35 weekends of refereeing controversy. For whatever reason, some will say ineptitude, others will say corruption, I predict that every week will be filled with contraversy.
