FA Cup 2024-25 (insert timezone here)

Forrest are getting a bit of their own medicine they couldn’t beat the 9 resolute team of Exeter in a 120 min now it is penalties.

Darren Bent was very good on this when I was driving yesterday.

Goldstein was running with the whole disrespectful line, Bent called him an idiot and rightfully pointed out we just played like shit. There were plenty of players good enough to do better on that pitch.

Oohhh, I’m going to use that angle in a meeting I have with my boss’ boss tomorrow. I have no idea why he’s asked me to meet him, but I’m now ready with a “I’m not lazy, Im just shit at my job.”

So they played a very second string side and beat a 9 man Exeter city of league 1 on pens.

As I said many clubs will do this, it’s a chance for Forest to get some silverware to be honest so I have to say a bit risky. But of course this won’t be spoken of as being disrespectful.

It’s a sad indictment of modern football that finishing fourth in the league is now considered more important than winning the FA Cup.

Especially for a club that has won fuck all since Martin O’Neill was a player.

Not quite (they won the League Cup in 1990), but I get your point.

Anyone else find themselves rooting for Plymouth Argyle? After they knocked us out I fancy them going on a deeper run…

I’d be curious as to what sort of team we would field if we were still in this and playing City. I’d assume that we would still have to rotate, but we wouldn’t go as severe as the team against Plymouth and possibly have some first choice players available from the bench.

I’d love to see Plymouth get a result, though. They are in this on merit.

Well I would want Man Utd to beat Man City as it is so anyone else is fine.

Credit to them they probably do want us to win the title as it’s certainly something to say if we did win it.

Shame it’s not away as I expect the usual bore fest from a Pep side.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m quite pleased we don’t have a game this weekend. We’ve got a couple of vital matches including a cup final coming up, and still need all our energy for the final push in the league. FA cup is great, and the 1974 final was a highlight of my youth, but I’m happy to miss out on it this year.

Once we beat Spurs in the League cup semi I was relaxed with whatever team Slot picked for the cup, that team should have been good enough but we had a really tough period of games starting with the Derby we’ve come through it extending our lead to at least 10 from the 6 it was at the time and potentially 13. I think all things considered it was the right decision.

We won’t know whether it was but I think it’s right to judge on that period and perhaps on the next few games if we end up getting past PSG and beating Soton then you can probably chalk it up as justified at least.

Also after going there and beating them 2-0 in such a relaxed fashion and then following it up with another professionally relaxed performance against Newcastle, I’m sort of half glad they aren’t out to derail us this weekend.

Not gonna lie. Crashing out didn’t bother me at all after playing Plymouth but after we’ve beaten City last Sunday which basically confirmed us winning the league I hate the fact that we’re out.

Would have loved to beat them again and keep the chance for that Q thing alive.

Disappointed we didn’t have the chance to school those twats twice in a week and be the ones responsible putting an end to them winning anything this season….then again I suppose I can take solace in Plymouth flying that victory flag for us on behalf of the English football pyramid.

Reflecting on the last two weeks of games, with us playing every 3days, and now the players back home watching the FA Cup games to come, all I can think of is THANK YOU Plymouth :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

As Churchill said he would speak favorably of the Devil in the House of Commons in deference to Germany…so I would rather see ANY side but the Cheaters carry that trophy around.

Apparently, Michael Oliver had to be sent to the monitor by VAR to determine that this was a red card:

Presumably, the “tackle” wasn’t deemed sarcastic enough.
