Fabinho generally has been immense for liverpool but this was his worst game.
Rest him against benfica and let him get his focus back against city in the semis

‘Too slow’ could be applied to the whole midfield today. Fabinho was not great but fuck knows how Thiago stayed on the pitch. He was flying into tackles horizontally. Hendo chasing shadows. All 3 are quality but they lack the legs to play effectively against a team like City.

Fab was our only decent midfielder until Thiago came along. He’s called the Hoover. Everyone has an off day

We need an additional 6 who is what I would call ‘nippy’ that can deal with the smaller technical opposition player but they also need to be excellent at being press resistant, a player in the mould of Kante would be exceptional for us. The crux is finding someone like him that is younger!

Yeah but in reality a higher potential younger player will not be content to sit on the bench for too long and for most players their talent would stagnate as well. That’s why Klopp likes a small squad. We do need a defensive minded backup but my guess is any recruitment will be weighed against trusting the development of Tyler Morton.
I’m a lot less worried about Fab (not at all) than I am about Hendo who looks pooped far too often. Hendos been a solid utility MF decent at defense and attack. None of the others can do that job
In hindsight , might have been better to start with keita instead of henderson.

Hendo is knackered because he does far more runni g in the 8 role compared to Fabs role.
Also with the amount of games we have there is room for 2 x no 6’s, as for Morton, good technically but again lacks speed like Fab
Klopp should have listened to @ILLOK and me, huh? Figures.
In hindsight, perhaps Hendo as the 6 and Keita as the 8 alongside Thiago.

I think the 6 role us better for Hendo at the moment, less taxing role and he has looked good when playing there
