Fabio "FABINHO" TAVARES: 2022/23

This here could be an explanation for Fab’s poor current form,.

Anyway, he’ll be back. As the saying goes: form is temporary, class is permanent. That lad has done enough already to prove beyond doubt that he’s class. He just needs to recover his form, which will happen sooner or later.

He’s been poor for about 12 months now mind.

100% pretty much all footballers are popping out kids yearly and never drop form… especially considering they have nanny’s and sleep in hotels the night before games.

Yes, I do have Bajcetic in mind. It’s not 100%, but as things stand he might have a better chance of remaining with us than par example Morton had last summer. I don’t see room for Carvalho as things stand, especially if we have our main 6 forwards. Jones and Elliott are ahead of him at the moment. So could be better for him to go out and bridge the gap more between playing for Fulham in the Championship and playing for Liverpool.

Form is temporary, class is permanent was how I thought last year. It’s how I felt with VVD this year (and his performances before the injury started to show that a bit).

With Fabinho he struggled for some time now, not this badly mind.

Jones is one I’m not sure about if I’m honest. As I said it’s not what they could be a fair few are simply just not there due to injuries and that kid has a unique injury history.

I wouldn’t say that. he was a full part of the team which propelled us to two trophies and two games away from two other ones.

No poor player could have done that. Ok, maybe by his own high standards, he isn’t exactly at 100% since some time.

But his current poor form can easily be explained by his current family situation. I’m sure that he’ll be back soon. That’s what great athletes do.

I wasn’t sure myself, but we just gave him a new contract (doesn’t have to mean much, of course). But he must be at least a step above Carvalho so far, from what they did so far for us. We already have big numbers and we talk about bringing two midfielders in. There will have to be people going out, apart from the usual Keita and Ox. Some might go out on loan. Like Carvalho.

When we’re talking about moving him on, the problem is I just can’t see anyone paying any kind of a fee.

We should be moving for two new midfielders in the summer, and we’ll see Keita, Ox and Milner moving on. Bajcetic is making a strong case for being part of the midfield, which will leave us with New A, New B, Thiago, Hendo, Bajcetic and Jones. So I think there is scope for Fabinho to stay as a squad option, covering defence as well.

Fabinho is done as a player, this decline isn’t new it’s just sinking new depths. He’ll be fine in Italy or something like that.

He’d be the first on the for sale list, £150k a week? Another not worth their wage and a huge part of the malaise in the squad.

Nah, a squad player has to be able to actually play. Fabinho can’t play 5 minutes without looking like the worst player on the pitch.

He’s currently the worst player in the squad. We could find a better player in the market for 10 million with some ease or you’d just bring Morton back to replace him.

Unless his form significantly improves he has to be the first out the door. Loan him out if needs be, pointless having a player at this level in the squad.

Unless there’s something else going on with him that he’ll come through in time. He’s only 29! The drop from last year is hard to fathom. He wouldn’t get in any team in the PL on current form

I think he’ll be here next season, partly because there will be a lack of buyers, partly due to Klopp giving old players too many chances. Hopefully it will only be as a back up to Bajcetic who looks more than capable of nailing down that position.

I don’t agree really, the signs were there last season.

The team was so good last season that we suffocated a lot of our opponents from the front. In the games we didn’t, Fabinho struggled in the exact same manner he has done this season.

E.g. His two league games against City were abysmal , the first clip here was just one example of him not being able to keep pace. You could look at the game at Anfield and find 5 examples of Bernardo walking past him with ease.

The problem is that he has a fairly lengthy contract at 150k pw. That makes him incredibly hard to shift.

Could he now become an option at CB?We may end up getting some good games in that position as he is shot at DM.

Bad challenge on Evan Ferguson today, lucky not to be sent off.

Was thinking the same if we do not end up selling him. His some of the best games for us have also been at CB.

Think we should be looking to get younger and more physical at CB, not dropping in midfielders who can barely move.

Yeah that challenge was nowhere near the ball and dangerous, I even think Fab was disgusted with himself, which is the only thing I can give him credit for today

If we can’t get any buyers this summer, there would definitely be an italian club wanting to take him on loan. The way he is playing now, it wouldn’t cost much to get someone better. Get a loan fee and free up space in the squad.
