Fabio "FABINHO" TAVARES: 2022/23

Casemiro was doing those things, too, and he was always better than Fabinho.

True but weā€™re biased like that, we dont really look to other clubs and view or viewed our own as being on this untouchable pedestal no one else could reach.

Whatā€™s an itw?

True. Maybe Iā€™m just snatching at straws here, but he can be useful in other leagues and clubs like Inter, Milan, Atletico pay high wages too.

itw = In the world :man_shrugging:

I guess ā€œin the worldā€

I Too Wank?

Fabinho has played 32 games, 2205 mins, this season; among the highest in the squad. Maybe, this is also a reason for the dip in his form?

Itā€™s like our fans never paid any attention to Casemiro in the games against us. Unbelievable player. If you were to swap Casemiro and Fabinhoā€™s performances around in a couple of those games weā€™d have another European cup or two.

Gone straight to United and transformed their midfield, which was the weakest part of the team. Regardless of who he plays with they look far better in there.

Nothing but pure delusion to suggest Fabinho was better at any point.

Yeah, we are quick to brand many players the best in the world in their positions. But happens at every fanbase, I guess.

Fabinho at his best was one of the best in his position, I can say that. But never the best I donā€™t think.

I remain a fan of this guy for what he has helped us achieve, bearing in mind he was signed as a full back and got slotted into DM roleā€¦ but f*** me his playing levels have droppedā€¦ At the moment, he doesnā€™t have the energy to get a rocking chair moving.!

He was already a holding midfielder for a few years, the change from RB to DM happened under Jardim at Monaco.

Even though Casemiro is a better player than Fabinho at his best, Fabinho at his best was good enough for this team because every part of the team played its role almost to perfection.

Casemiroā€™s departure from Real Madrid is another lesson for Liverpoolā€™s hierarchy - how to plan for the future and when to refresh the team. They are probably weaker without him at the moment, probably wonā€™t win La Liga this season but they are a force to be reckoned with in Europe and this transition from Casemiro-Kroos-Modrić to Camavinga-Tchouameni-Valverde/Bellingham is going on rather nicely for them, likely setting them up for another decade. On the other hand, weā€™re in need of complete overhaul that canā€™t come soon enough.

In fairness hes been having a good rest on the pitch.:grin:

He was a crucial part of our midfield when we were winning everything. Great player then, talk of best in the world is a bit overblown butā€¦

Sad to see decline-period Fab.

Absolutely this.

A team that was great deal more than the sum of its partsā€¦

Pep L called him a lighthouse a couple of years ago. Seems the bulb has gone out, or dimmed at least.

I was there to see his performance in the flesh on Tuesday - slow, no confidence to play the ball forward. Itā€™s really disappointing to see him fall away so badly. If thereā€™s no marked improvement, and heā€™s got time on his contract, the club should prob look to shift him on. Suspect not this year, but next.

I mean, when you look at some of our best ever midfielders, whatever happened with them (drops of form or in need of a new challenge or being too good for us at the time) when they left, they also spent about 5-6 seasons with us.

Things change, especially at the level we want to operate at, be competitive and win. Which we didnā€™t do consistently enough over years and decades in also not an easy league.

We should be able to have a players who perform mainly for 4-5-6 years, be very happy if that happens (although itā€™s true that you then talk about at least 2 contracts) and move onto someone else.

Also this may be a bit of a mule argument but the fear factor has gone out the window, he was such a unit in his first few seasons players were scared to try running past himā€¦now teams sense our weaknesses they exploit it time and time again and we seem powerless to do anything to stop it.

We never really used to see the loose controls (which led to Madridā€™s 5th) from him in the pastā€¦.none of us can quite put our finger behind whats gone on with him but he speaks very good English from what Iā€™ve heard maybe he can have a sit down 1 to 1 and LFC can release an interview with him where he thinks this has stem from.

His levels dropped off long before this season even started. He needed to be replaced and used as a squad player from last summer.Hard to see him recover his form with us.As others have said, a slower league would suit him now.
