Did you really ask football fans to show patience and restraint?

Some valid questions are if itā€™s only a match fitness issue, surely he can only get it by playing minutes? Is he even getting minutes in the under XX games? If he is not playing even youth games to get some minutesļ¼Œ then surely itā€™s not just a match fitness issue? Did the team discover a long term underlying issue?

I donā€™t think I see anyone slagging him off. In fact, if anything, I see people wanting him to succeed because he is the perfect underdog story to succeed with us, so to not get a clearer picture of whatā€™s up with him can be frustrating to some fans

He is being slagged off, as was Keita and Thiago for being injured.
I find that difficult to be honest. There are players who were not good enough like Ballotelli who got less ire than Keita.

I never thought Lucas was a good enough player, but I drew the line on slagging him off because of injuries.

Thereā€™s no long-term issue. Itā€™s genuinely just fitness and bad luck. Arne said a few weeks ago that Chiesa was in and out of first-team training with the odd niggle here and there, so they just want him to get a good run of training first.

He played in a U21 match recently (and scored). That was before he made his League Cup appearance against Southampton.

When you play so many games as we have on our schedule it means so many of your days are limited in how hard physically you can push. You are doing post-game recovery or going light so they arenā€™t still recovering from the training going into the match day. For a player working his way back up to fitness that means most of the regular training with the group is insufficient for what they need so there is a lot of individual work that needs to be done.

The extension of that is that putting him on the bench for a given game robs him to 2 or maybe 3 days of good training that he isnā€™t going to be able replicate with the, at best, 10 minutes of game time he gets.

He is seemingly still at the stage where games can be used as part of his physical build up, but only if like in the Southampton game the other week he is expected to get an extended run out.

Wait til he destroys Accrington Stanley.

Itā€™s January and he still not able to train for a few consecutive days, itā€™s a absolute joke of a signing but we must not criticise him, we all must have the same opinion or we donā€™t fit into the forum.

Well you have the right to have an opinion as do others.

Like those people who tell every press outlet that theyā€™ve been silenced.

Itā€™s funny how the worst posters call themselves after the best players - John Barnes, Luis Suarez, Craig Johnstonā€¦

Posters with a different opinions to yours are worse posters, Two tier like Kier.
Baaa Baaa said the sheep.

No posters that have a balanced view and see different points of view.

You are just coming on to troll then disappear.

The worst posters are the ones with no sense of humour.

Iā€™d hazard a guess that John Barnes is unaware of the history of your usernames.

We all have varying opinions on varying topics.
We can all disagree on different threads.

I disagree that a player still searching for optimal fitness can be described as a joke signing. Thereā€™s plenty of options in his position so its pointless and needless to rush him.
I have faith in him.

I thought Thiago was a brilliant player, dammed with injuries. Others thought he was a waste of a paycheck. Thats differing opinion.

You trying to be the anti hero renegade of the forum simply doesnā€™t fit.
