FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

Don’t worry I’m not on tonight

I’m not sure where Harry Kane stands politically, but it has to be really awkward if the President of the United States invites you to a game of golf. If you decline, it’s a thing. And who wants a thing between themselves and Trump? He is such a thin skinned, easily offended individual, that you could easily make an enemy over something as simple as not playing golf.

So in all likelihood, playing the game, even if you don’t especially want to (and I’m not saying that’s where Kane is, I don’t know) seems the thing to do.

I think about the large quantity of world leaders who suck up to Trump. Then factor in assorted billionaires and titans of industry and so on.

It’s probably a lot to ask for a footballer to be the one to take a stand.

I’m in a strange place with Harry Kane. I’ve never warmed to him, but while he is banging the goals in for England I can call an uneasy and hypocritical truce!

I’d decline.

Guy fundamentally is a far right. Wouldn’t give the steam off my piss to people like that. There are American sports stars who have rejected to meet the President. He’s English, he plays at a German club.

And even he wants to meet him don’t pretend he’s good at golf or a decent man he’s a racist, bigoted prick.

Only thing he failed to mention was whether he sucked his knob or not (though he couldn’t even pretend).

Only a few hours left now. The long grueling wait will eventually be over.
Soon, we shall feast on English tears !

Pink Norwegians versus pink Englishmen, which team has the most melanin and should therefore be favorites ?:laughing:
We are lacking in that department. We have Nusa, but not so much more !

Substitutes might be really important in this one, to freshen it up a bit given the Miami heat and humidity.

I’m surprised how much England are perceived as favourites but then I thought the same against Mexico.

Like to me both teams have one world class player and England then probably have a couple who are top top players. Plus Odegaard looked a bit off as well. However England’s defence looks like kicking out time at your local Wetherspoons.

Love how Man Utd defenders seem to morph into one. I always confuse him and Jones.

Anyhow I know it’s all a bit of fun but someone was mentioning 1066 and how “we” beat the Danes and lost to the French.

Considering most of my family are Irish/Scottish, some are Scandivian and we have the lineage of my name from 1066.

How does any of that sit with “we”. It’s all incredibly dumb. Not to mention of the Iberian and Germanic that comes into it as well.

The Normans were basically Norse as well. You only really need to go back 5 generations for it to be genetic noise anyway.

I wouldn’t find it in the least bit awkward

All he had to do was to flip him off and say fuck off, you orange-faced nazi cunt. Simples

It’s well documented that Trump cheats at golf, and it’s hardly surprising considering he cheats at everything else. So Kane decided to accept the invitation, which I’m sure many principled people, like Matty, me and Jürgen would turn down. Ok, fair enough, but then, afterwards he goes out of his way to say what a good golfer Trump is.
So, either all those reports of Trump’s cheating are false, Kane is too dumb to notice the caddies dropping balls in good positions around the green,or he’s brown nosing.
Which of those seems most likely?

I would turn down the invitation too. I was just trying to imagine the awkwardness for the recipient of the invitation. No qualms here, yes he is a known golf cheat, and also a terrible human being, on any number of levels.

Roll on the England kick-off. Chilling out at home, waiting…

Are you coming down from your trip?

Much of the Anglo-Saxon host at the Battle of Stamford Bridge were actually Danes, but I expect more of you as a historian
1066 is not “hidden history”, so I really expect more from you than this, mate.
