FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 3)

If it’s a broken wrist it can lead to a drop in blood pressure. At altitude that’s going to be worse. I can’t see him playing again at the WC. Fix rate is about two months from memory.

If I have permission to be a bit evil here, my preferred order of events would be:

  1. England appeals the decision of Quansah’s red on the precedent(s) that have now been set.
  2. The decision is overturned
  3. The red car card system is effectively in the trash. Belgium come out with a gameplan to (literally) break legs against USA.
  4. USA loses 5 players to long term injuries. All the red cards for Belge players are also overturned on appeal.
  5. The rest of the world cup is played out like a series of cage fights
  6. World football dies. While Infantino was behind the wheel.

Id imagine a many England fans also got wrist injuries after watching that last night…

Couldnt he play in a cast - Lineker did in I think '90 but maybe that was only because his was closer to being fully healed?

Still pisses me off with his showboat diving at stuff missing the goal by 10 yards. And a lot of his ‘unbelievable saves’ (Shearer) Alisson just catches.

Quite possibly. In the first couple of weeks it will be incredibly painful as the bones have to fuse back together. Once that happens, it’s a couple of months for the full strength to return.

Is it possible for a replacement to be called? Not sure they would do as Hendo may be there more for his input off the pitch than on it, but it might be interesting to see who did get a call (Wharton?).

I only look at tiny parts of this circus, and the latest scandal showing up FIFA’s corruption has only served to make me even less interested, but still, looking at the results and the way they generate, it’s a strange world cup.

I watched the first half of Brazil - Norway before going to bed, and looking at how things were unfolding, there was only one winner for me in this contest. And yet, Norway somehow find themselves in the quarters. Congrats to Norway, but it’s a pity as far as I’m concerned. I really wanted Alli to go further than that. Also, and no offence to Norway, Brazil are an enjoying side to watch, so I’ll miss them. :frowning:
As for the Mexico game, I’m really disppointed. Canada and Mexico already out of their tournament, undeservedly so as well… how shite is this? :frowning:

Am I wrong, or is Macca our last remaining player in the tournament?

Not anymore. I remember back in the day, Brazil even had their own style of football. That’s long gone now.

I still prefer Brazil’s way of playing…

But yeah, they aren’t the same side anymore than in the seventies, eighties, nineties. Sad…

Fair point regarding the altitude, I never considered that.

This is the most un-Brazil like Brazil that I can remember. This lot aren’t fit to lace the boots of the legends.
They play European style football worse than most European sides.

I’ve stayed off here for a couple of days but couldn’t resist having a look this morning. As I expected, it’s just like one of the Everton fan sites, so much bitterness and hate. Great performance from England under the circumstances. No complaints about the sending off but I didn’t like the antics of the Mexico players, throughout the game. There’s only one team that’s going to win the World Cup and that’s France, but I’ll enjoy the rest of the tournament. You haters should try it, before you make yourselves ill!

Honestly Wool, I don’t think there’s much negativity from the English people on here, it’s mostly Aussies having a snipe as they are genetically impelled to. They can’t help themselves.
I bet even you find it difficult to get behind players like Pickford and Gordon though.

Just Aussies?? And even if people don’t like Pickford and Gordon, they can’t deny they both had decent games.

Well in the modern silly rules that is true, but I don´t think Quansah went to whack him or hit him with much force.

Misjudged but I don´t think it was as dangerous as slow mo makes it look.

Am I wrong, or is Macca our last remaining player in the tournament?

We also have our new Spanish arrival, Victor Munoz, in the Competition btw.

Sure but then when Bellingham got back to stop their defender scoring, their defender kicked Bellingham´s leg with his swing and we didn´t get a freekick for it.

I guess it´s the consistency that is annoying, or lack of.

Ah yes, forgot about him. :+1: But he hasn’t played lately, has he… Is he over his injury now?
