Who gives a shit that the Argentinians held up a sign about the Falklands? Sure it’s dumb, but why is anyone getting heated about it? Factually they are not Argentinian and no amount of banners held after a football game will change that.
Yup
Yep. Wasn´t very nice at all the video I saw. I´m sure it will surface on here.
As I said, I knew they would have said or done something. No class.
No problem with what Bellingham did. He´ll probably get a silly punishment but whatever. He´s a good lad.
Something to the effect of “that shot was right in the middle of the goal”
I’m at a stage now where I can cheer for either team as they both have a Liverpool player. If Muñoz doesn’t play, then its 100% Mac support.
If Barco deserved a dig, then give him one. Not a little kiddy smack on the head.
Either be angry or walk away.
Bellingham is an entitled twat, a symptom of modern football.
I don’t advocate violence, but if someone deserves it fair enough. But last nights petulance is laughable
Those Argentinian’s just wanted to mind everyone that they got a damn good (deadly) spanking. Not really something I would want to remind the world about.
Some fouls there for sure but to be honest, my nan would have stayed on her feet for half of those
Yeah. I dont doubt there were many in the Argentina camp behaving in a way that justified a slap. We have seen it multiple times throughout this tournament from them and with lots of these players throughout their career. But in this case we saw Jude standing and watching a celebratory huddle forming next to him. He took a moment looking at it, and then walked over to smack one of the guys on the back of the head who was looking the other way and paying no mind to Jude. And we’re supposed to believe he did it in reaction to Barco being a prick to other England players out of screen? And that he was justified in doing so? It’s pretty laughable. Either that or Jude’s reaction time is slow enough to justify some serious neurological testing and possibly round the clock care.
England got 1 booking, and that for a massively late cynical take out of Messi after being the third english player left for dead. That booking was entirely justified by itself. While this being the only one on a side that wilfully engaged in the shithousing is maybe a mark of bad refereeing, it is not one of lopsided refereeing. Maybe you can make the argument that argentina are better served by a weak ref that let a lot go, and I’d probably accept that
Some of the complaints are insane. The highlight videos of Argentina’s despicable approach include sequence after sequence of Anderson buying fouls by throwing himself on the floor to relieve pressure rather than playing the football you’d hope a 115m midfield lynchpin might occasionally do. There is one that people are focusing on where Messi tried to beat the LB on the edge of the box. The defender blocked him off and so Messi tried to climb over his back to get around him. They ended having a bit of a wrestle and both falling over and the ball rolled out for a GK. They both then got back up and got on it with it with neither of them thinking it was anything other than a typical 1 on 1 contest. And I have seen loads of England fans specifically calling that one out as an example of how bad it was last night and I feel like Im taking crazy pills.
And Flobs, if you laugh at that post as well Im going to come over there and hit you with my baguette
Cut Anderson some slack, he isn’t used to the nuances of playing this “referee-convincing” game.
And Flobs, if you laugh at that post as well Im going to come over there and hit you with my baguette
Not sure if allowed to laugh at this post now.

And Flobs, if you laugh at that post as well Im going to come over there and hit you with my baguette
They both then got back up and got on it with it with neither of them thinking what had happened was remotely noteworthy. And I have seen loads of England fans specifically calling that one out as an example of how bad it was last night and I feel like Im taking crazy pills.
You don’t partake of our in match threads then?
Friend of mine is absolutely raging that Argentina should have had umpteen yellow cards, and that was the difference. I don’t think a red card would have saved them once the equalizer went in.
This Argentina side are very good at calibrating. I think the argument that the ref was too lenient and it hurt England probably relates more to how Enzo would have played differently if booked for either of his two bookable offenses early than it relates to it turning into a man advantage after a red card. But England were not choir boys and seemed content to play the game Argentina were playing, for good or for ill.
