FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico

The country who once had so much talent they couldnt make room for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank is now forced to pick between Depay and Brobbey. I havent looked, but I would t surprised to see Hunterlaar still on the bench 10 years after he retired

This is how the Uzbekistan national team was received and inspected upon their arrival at the stadium moments before the friendly match against the Netherlands!

They’ve completely lost their minds in that country.

The security at the Knicks is because the owner has made Trump a guest of honor at the next game (the first being played in NYC). The tickets are outragous and so fan zones outside the arena had been planned and they have been shutdown to accommodate Trump’s visit. Just a perfect illustration of sports in the US, or the US as a whole right now

Senegalese national team’s delegation were inspected upon their arrival to the United States.
Someone posted on reddit that they were looking for the AFCON trophy.

Despite all the issues with the entry visas, the supporters who made it in were greeted warmly by the locals and were very generous with their welcome. The local youngsters were surprisingly very knowledgeable about the PL players and were wearing their favourite players jersey. I must add this was the only video I saw in Kansas of the greeting of an African team obviously didn’t get the message from on high.

Very sad state of affairs those poor Uzbeks . I saw a program about the country itself and they are so welcoming to foreign tourists especially the American ones.

It is disgraceful and racist humiliating the national teams like this. I suppose the European national teams just sailed through immigration and customs

Regarding Europeans teams, I heard that Breel Embolo, a Swiss forward with Nigerian ascent, was initially denied his entry visa and had to wait a couple of days before eventually joining his team-mates in the US. It’s not a big issue, but it seems that there are a lot of small vexations, humiliations, administrative delays happening. Of course, it always happens against non-white, non-WASP people. Disgusting indeed.

Jurrien Timber out of the tournament due to injury, Geertruida is his replacement.

Feel bad for our lad Frimpong. Can’t even get a spot as a replacement.

Didn’t think he would be in, they mostly used Frimpong as a winger. Jurrien Timber out meant they were always going for a more defensive option. 7 defenders on paper, though they do have a few midfielders who can cover in defence if needed.

Just disgusting behaviour.

The World Cup of shame—when the hosts have no idea how to act like hosts, even though the whole world is watching. (But perhaps that’s already the “new normal” over there?) There are a few bright spots, though, when you see the warm welcome some teams receive at their base camps. I can only speak for the German team for now, and the wonderful reception they were given in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. So, maybe we should just wait until things officially kick off, but I’m still left with an uneasy feeling, tbh.

I think that’s what mostly happens at training camps towards any national team coming over. Wouldn’t bet on the spontaneity of it. It’s people from the hotel and stuff, waving a few flags and little banners. Yeah, they might be excited to have football starts in their place. But that’s literally it; a prepared warm welcome as hosts of the hotel and training camp. Everyone wants to leave a good impression as hosts.

3,000 people showed up for the open training session—but yeah, totally normal. Maybe they were all just people from the hotel. Right.

I thought you meant the reception when the team arrived to the place for the first time. This is what usually happens. As for (open) training sessions, well, surely there are many German fans over there.
