He has been a revelation. Played really well on the National team lately. Not amazing or anything, but surprisingly well.

FIFA reserved blocks of hotel rooms in host cities as part of travel packages. A report from the Athletic is they have cancelled 75% of them in Kansas City

They should have had the whole thing in Mexico. I really enjoyed it when they hosted in 1986.

Difficult because of the very limited number of FIFA-rated venues in Mexico now - the standard required has gone way up in the past 40 years. But that was indeed a great tournament in many ways.

Indeed, that would have been great. 1986 was a very good tournament. But I suppose that they’d have to build a dozen of new stadia to host the whole thing.

Netflix has a dramatisation out staring Diego Luna of the Mexican fed’s attempts to convince FIFA it was capable of still holding the 86 world cup after the Mexico City earthquake in 85. It’s light hearted and I think worth watching

The title makes it sounds like he fell out of the game after Liverpool - he was a regular starter for Wigan in League One at 17! He’s been an excellent talent for a while.
