FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico

6 minites added pm when we had a penalty incident that took several minutes to sort out involving on field treatment for a head/neck injury, two other incidents of players being treated on the pitch and 3 minute long drinks break.

Are we just not adding the time on for drinks breaks?

Another one.

This was already a back door concession to the broadcasters. Some games will definitely justify the breaks. fifa decided that if they only did it for some games that variability in the duration of a game would pose challenges for broadcasters with planning their schedule. It’s laughable, but the direction of travel once they agreed to breaks was very predictable…from some games as needed, to all games but with no ad breaks, to “go on then do a cheeky ad break if you want to but you must follow these rules for your ads”, to “do whatever you want.”

Our commentators are already referring to it as “quarters” I think as a reflex but it’s also ominous

It’s seemed standard for 3 mins for a drinks break so that means 3 mins on that check and injury which was 5.

Should have at least had one more goal.

Henry saying on our coverage that even they haven’t seen a VAR image of the offside :man_shrugging:

It’s not dictatorship Gary…

Go and live in a Dictatorship and try and write back to us.

It’s definitely shit but let’s not go OTT. To be fair the Ref analyst has even now come around to they should be showing us the image.

So far in this tournament the referees have been good, or at least made logical and defendable decisions.

VAR has been wank.

Yeah they said on ITV that FIFA aren’t releasing the images that prove its offside (which they obviously very definitely have)

That’s weird. They used to. And they put money into improving it this time around with computer generated avatars of all the players. Seems like something has gone wrong with the tech and they’re just pretending it doesn’t matter

This World Cup with 48 teams is really not for me. I will ditch 95% of the first two matchdays except for the Germany games and maybe some pairings like Brazil vs Morocco later tonight.
Right now there are too many teams that shouldn’t be anywhere near a football World Cup.

The real tournament will start at the knockout stages.

A more suspcipus mind than mine may think that. I of course have complete faith and trust in the integrity of FIFA.

If the entertainment of the games was like that Mexico one I’d probably skip but I’m enjoying watching football I don’t have a massive care about that is generally on the most part entertaining.

After watching Arsenal mind numbingly bore themselves to a title that led me turning the tv off not to mention Arne ball I’ll happily enjoy this.

That’s usually when I get bored and tap out :joy:

World Cup just isn’t very good honestly. Even the best tournaments ever are people forgetting the mountains of dross they go through to get to that moment.

It’s usually just better when you’re a kid and you don’t know enough to think it’s shite.

I grabbed the video from reddit. Impossible for me to get the timing right when the ball was released.

Played it safe with a Switzerland win and over 1.5 goals in my acca, watching this lad on the wing who plays for Forest is painful. Absolute donkey.
