FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico

I think this “its so hot they need a drinks break” is soft launching it to become a permanent part of the game and fit in an extra couple of advert breaks.

According to google its only 80°. No need to have a break.

To be fair that could be the point but I can’t see it happening in night games in the winter to be honest.

I do wonder if it’s a knock on from the last USA World Cup when you had Jack Charlton and John Aldridge.

Saying that I think FIFA Pro have demanded it for the players. It’s sensible to have but I do think it should be set at a temperature so say it’s pitch side above a certain temperature it happens for that match.

Also glad ITV haven’t shoehorned an advert in. I was fearful and though Matterface and Dixon are painful to listen to it’s still prefable to some advert involving gambling and Danny Dyer or that prick who goes to all world cups.

A player off the field for a minute? That’s like a power play in ice hockey or water polo!

I can just see broadcast companies jumping on the “player safety” argument to push for it to stick around. Although I think the fans will push back pretty hard.

I’m learning that on our current timeline just imagine the worst/stupidest/greediest decision making process and that’s more than likely what will actually happen.

True, I think the PL have it set via temperature at the moment.

Sorry there is no way the second guy was onside for the Swiss pen. That they refuse to show it again is possibly relevant

These hydration breaks are turning the matches into 4 quarters, with tactical interference from the coaching staff during the additional breaks. It gets annoying to us traditionalist.

They’ve not all been massively negative responses yet, like Canada got a plus from one and minus from the other.

Anyhow you know a game is dull when the Mexican wave kicks off. Qatar just haven’t done much.

Perhaps they will have to go for it in the second.

Speaking of which. Where was the concussion check for the Qatari keeper?

Big chance for Qatar.

They should have had a goal to be fair

Arguing over the ball being the corner quadrant

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see the point

Stupid tackle by Zakaria, kind of thing that really irritates me. Qatar are under pressure, ok ball bounces out to a midfielder but Zakaria immediately takes him out. He was 80 yards from the Swiss goal and they had their entire defence in position, what the fuck were you worried he was about to do?

I meant the player.

It oddly has a few decent chances amongst minutes of absolutely nothing. Odd game.

I still have nothing better to do…

Qatari keeper having a decent game to be fair.

It’s always good to watch any match with my dad. The good thing is that the football is not that shite.
