I hope this blows up in FIFA`s face. The US should never have been given the Cup, and Canada should never have participated in this absurdity. The award of the tournament took place in 2018, during Trump’s first term - that should have been warning enough.
Still time to find an alternative for the Olympics.

Norway might have the coldest team photo of the World Cup.
To mark their first World Cup appearance since 1998, the Norway squad posed as Viking warriors on a dramatic Norwegian shoreline, with longships in the background and weapons in hand.
The photo, titled “The Vikings are Coming,” was shot by renowned photographer David Yarrow, who said Norway “went both a step further and a step back in time” for their World Cup send-off.
“The players look like they are popping out from the pages of Norse mythology and that was always the intent.”
Yarrow also joked that making Erling Haaland look like a Viking was not exactly difficult:
“Of course, there is no more plausible a Viking than Norwegian national treasure Erling Haaland, making him look like a warrior was one of the easier tasks of my career.”
And for anyone wondering if the cinematic longships were AI-generated, Yarrow made it clear they were real:
“In these days of AI, there will be doubters as to the validity of the boats and I would like to thank the Norwegian FA for procuring the best operating Viking ships available. Their presence lent great weight to the narrative. Valhalla!”

According to Iraqi news publication/propaganda, “Iraq hero interrogated for 7 hours upon arriving in US for World Cup”.
“Hussein became a hero in Iraq by scoring the goal that qualified the country for a World Cup after 40 years. He scored in the 2-1 win over Bolivia in the intercontinental replay.”
How long he was detained and questioned, take it with a pinch of salt. However, it would not be shocking that it happened, nor surprising if he got poor treatment for more than that.

My sentiment as well as mentioned in the article. It will take me 45 minutes on public transport to get to the stadium and I was really looking forward to the event when it was first announced. Then the greed from FIFA took over. No, just no.

Getting used to the heat is one reason for having the pre-tournament friendlies. Maybe the heat might result in a surprise WC winner. If I were a betting person, I’d put some money on Senegal. They’re in England’s side of the draw, assuming that both teams win their groups, and could well knock England out.
