FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico

That’s interesting, the camera was on the other side of the pitch on the German coverage. My wife was wondering what the American fans would make of all the German adverts.

Medical incident during Denmark and Ukraine friendly match. Match abandoned. Unlike Eriksen 1st aid during his collapse in Euro, the cameras were not pointing to the incident. No updates on what happened.

Update: Christian Eriksen receives an ovation as he is escorted to an ambulance on the way to hospital. Eriksen is conscious and was walking after collapsing on the pitch. The referee has ended the game, and both Denmark and Ukraine teams are seen gathering afterwards.

Update 2:
Quote from Doctor Morten Boesen:
“Christian is doing well and walked off the field. As I see it, the pacemaker worked as it should. He was briefly unconscious but very quickly regained conscious, and we were quickly in contact with him. Now he needs to be examined further at the hospital to find out what caused the incident. We are in constant contact with him and the doctors at the hospital. But Christian is doing well and he asked me to greet all the players and say he was okay.”

Best wishes to him. Hopefully it was not something major

Seems his pacemaker worked as it should, do wonder if he should consider retiring.

Is there a point where this cannot be practically facilitated? Callously, would every game involving him need to provision for a big delay or replay? Feels horrible to say but has a line been crossed in terms of the club and national organisations are compromising his health by allowing him to play?

I suspect that if it wasn’t for the England factor, this wouldn’t have been reported outside of the local news service.

Sadly isn’t this likely to happen in The US on most given days?

no country that does such discriminatory bans on ticketed fans should ever even have a sniff of hosting the world cup.

its beyond a joke.

Christian Eriksen collapsed during their friendly yesterday. Luckily he’s ok. Surely time to retire.

The interesting thing with this is that there have been a lot of dicatorships hosting world cups in the past. But always, they’ve made a point of showing a friendly and welcoming face to the visiting fans, even though the world cup was also a revealer of everything the dictatorship didn’t want us to see.

This time around, it seems that the main host country doesn’t want to show a friendly face. On the contrary, that face is as ugly as it gets.

Thought Beckham might be higher. Or the 1966 “goal”

The 1934 World Cup was the original sports washing event.

I’m still wondering if there will be any match rigging as there was then and at the 1978 World Cup?

Looking at it like that, the tournament is way too bloated for me. Max of 32 teams should have been upheld. It seems like a money grabber on all levels right now.
