FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico

I notice that teams from Africa (bar Tunisia) and the Middle East seem to do unexpectedly well so far, while teams from South America have struggled. I wonder where that comes from. Plenty of time for that to change of course.

Oh and well done Spain. Really good, that first match. :+1: :joy:

Considering a lot of people here and several friends stated they weren’t interested in it and definitely wouldn’t be watching, it looks like a lot of minds have been changed. Haven’t had the chance to watch any yet but starts for me from today.

Trumping politicians trying in vain to stop people’s enjoyment and happiness all over the USA showing that there are millions of lovely people in the USA.

My boycott doesn’t extend to this thread which is pretty entertaining thanks to Livvy etc.
It seems that the majority of the entertainment isn’t on the pitch, or even in the stadiums, it’s the fans out on the streets having a great time.

By the way, how is it that Times Square seems to be constantly overrun by one nation or another? Is there a timetable?

I second that FGred.

Thank you soo much @Livvy for putting in the time and effort to put all your valuable time effort getting all the videos together, so we can catch up with the events and the fans from across the world.

It cheers us up at least, to see that people from around the world can get along so well.

The people of the world need reclaim the beautiful game back from the greedy, corrupt elitist FIFA and corrupt politicians.

Antonee Robinson too, playing for the US (born in Milton Keynes but he grew up in Liverpool).

Latin America is just not very good in football anymore compared to previous decades.

Very few top class players.

Tuchel’s just intentionally on a wind-up now :joy:

Let’s see how well Argentina will do. They are still the reigning world champions. But Messi isn’t getting younger of course.

They are but surely Messi can no longer carry them?

Alvarez is good but they used to have so much talent across the team.

Yeah, they seem on the decline, and Brazil too don’t seem to be as impressive as they have been. But you never know. In such a long tournament, unexpected things can happen.

I know they won the last tournament but they were not that convincing tbh and got so many penalties.

I think they are already declined. Brazil too. Vini is fairly good but my god what a drop off. I have my theories why. Colombia have one or two good players but still with James and Quintero who should have been a top player. Chile nowhere, Uruguay not so much except Valverde, Peru meh, Mexico lacking quality. I suppose Ecuador are a bit better now but they had a decide side 2 decades ago.
