Everyone could have forgiven Ståle Solbakken for making that substitute earlier.
Imo, Berg could have played from the break, instead of coming in only now. Ødegaard has been one of the weakest players tonight, which is shocking for him.
However, all in all, this has been an exciting game, which is good.
But it shouldn’t have been this exciting from my PoV ![]()
Three points the main thing. Presumably a number of teams will ease themselves into the tournament and the performance level will improve as they go. There’s not enough jeopardy from the get go, so there is some margin to ease in.
I’ve only seen the last 35 mins but it’s a solid enough win for Norway. Job done!
You have to commend the mentality of the Iraqi players.
They’re very determined to give Haaland a world cup HT
A nervous Norwegian team. In the end, a good result. But this wasn’t good enough since the fluidity wasn’t there. Iraq played extremely well for being Iraq though and played with their hearts outside their shirts for long periods of the game.
End of the day you need to win the opening game by any means
True, but I dreamed of a “Show Case” of how good we are akin to the wondrous games in the qualifications and I am not really happy. I am happy with the result, but not the actual play and press.
Ståle Solbakken interviewed now, and he isn’t very happy either, except with the end of the game. We were much too slow.
But as you say, it’s an opening game. I just hoped for more, that is all. :=)
Fair play to Iraq though. Before they became too tired, they were really up there. But you could see that they are not really that well trained physically in the second half ,as their engine soon started to struggle.
Saddam Hussein, Al-Khwarizmi, Hammurabi, Andy Serkis, Sargon…your boys took one hell of a beating
Oooh, you prepared that one ![]()
Andy Serkis was a real good one, haha !
(I learned just now that he is 50% of Iraqi origin).
I really had to stretch to think of Iraqis who either weren’t part of the gulf war or who haven’t been dead for 3000 years
Eh, you made me learn a tiny detail by making me google, which is always very much appreciated ![]()
I just now saw the scene where Mbappe didn’t get a penalty once again. Absolutely very funny, simply because it is almost spectacular that the ref watched a video screen and then didn’t give it, thinking it was provoked by Mbappe (but he ran so fast, Mr. Ref). A brave ref, got to say. But maybe not exactly the correct decision, hehe.
It’s good that France won or the ref could have become the victim of quite the vulgar hate-fest.
debatable.
I was thinking about the ref really.
I know how awful they can get treated if their mistakes become critical and don’t want to see that.
Offside cunts
2 offside goals, one on each side.
Looks like going to be an interesting match
Only if they can stay onside, every Argentine looks punchable.
Messi’s doing defensive duty!
Man that’s one hell of a goal by Messi again
Ok I’ll begrudging let him have that.
