Please no. They haven’t finished talking about 1966 yet.
We had nothing to do with 1966
You should have stopped them winning it.
You lot could have stopped them yourselves.
Doesn’t always hae to be us plucky Aussie underdogs doing all the heavy lifting ![]()
This is true. Life is full of regrets.
This includes over reliance on Aussies stopping England. We have created a monster.
And lets be honest, do you honestly think likes of @rooster or @SBYM would be any less unbarable than any English fan if Australia won?
They’re already unbearable.
That is fun, I’m sure, but it’s not what football’s all about.
I’m already in unbearable mode. Australia won a game….
There would be some moaning if that was England fans jumping in a fountain !!

I was indifferent to the World Cup, still am in many ways, but it is going about as I expected as England are pulling me back in.
I will be watching the game. Taking the afternoon off for a 3pm kick off in these parts. My lad is off today from his summer job too, so we will make a thing of it.
I would say England are one of about 6 teams that can win it, but definitely in the bottom part of that upper group, if that makes sense. Let’s see what the team looks like when the action starts.
One final comment about the England fans. I will charitably say I have mixed feelings. Fair play for spending the dough and traveling to watch the team. And most of them seem like they are just having a good time. So maybe commenting further is out of order, but I’ll say what I see, as a fellow English man.
It’s all a bit witless! There’s not much creativity in the chants. And then bubbling just under the surface there seems to be a certain nastiness that I hope does not come out. Singing against the Germans with a tired old shitty song about RAF bombers. Ugh. Move on! Singing against the Scots and having a go at the bagpipes, while not offering any musical ability or originality in return. Ugh. And so on. I don’t feel any affinity with that expression of Englishness. These are not my people.
Yup I would like to see England to do well despite the fan base and I sadly feel most of them would support Trump if they were over there.
Anyhow Doctor Congo tonight.
Anyhow really do recommend Jonathan Wilson’s “The Power and the Glory”, to boycott this tournament and none before is a bit silly as it’s been corrupted by money and dodgy governments since 1970.
