FIFA World Cup: Qatar 2022

Cavani:
Our identity is based on work and sacrifice. Arrogant, egotistical players are not well regarded by us.

Maybe he should have played for us rather than the mancs.

Signed for them in 2020 when he was 33 already. We didnā€™t need him at that time.

There is alot of jealousy amongst the Gulf states because Qatar is holding the most prestigious tournament in the world.

Sure but that doesnā€™t mean it isnā€™t true. It doesnā€™t mean itā€™s false either but thatā€™s beyond the point. Just the fact that no one would bat an eyelid if this actually took place, says everything about the tournamentā€™s credibility. This World Cup was tainted from the very beginning.

For what itā€™s worth, he says that he has 6 sources corroborating his claims.

Very good point. This World Cup was controversial since the day Blatter held up that paper saying Qatar.

I feel sad. I always had good memories of Qatar. I had the best school days there.

Is he out of the opening game or out of the competition?

Itā€™s ironic that he spends 8 years in the Premier League getting kicked of the pitch every week and then gets injured at Bayern just before a big competition. I really feel for the guy. I know how important playing for Senegal is to him.

Looks like he needs surgery on his knee. Reports suggest he could be out for 3 months

Finale

The only thing I can hope for is because of unrestricted access into the country (more or less) and influx of all the people and journalists from over the world, the citizenry of Qatar will have its eyes a little bit opened to the standards of outside world. And that campaigning groups and human rights organisations can actually go over there and ensure that all reforms Qatar said itā€™d do have been honoured and more.

Canā€™t cancel the world cup now, but there sure as hell needs to be some punitive action so that all these countries never think of making slaves out of migrant workers, that too to host global events ffs.

I am going to watch the rest of the series now, thanks for this. :+1:t2:

Anyone else laughing at the utter shitshow this looks like becoming?

FIFA will come out of this looking very poor, indeed.

Haha @Budweiser

Well they wouldnā€™t have ā€œhiddenā€ it very well then would they?

Get a pint outside the ground, make sure you have a spare empty 7up plastic cup with youā€¦the ones with the lid and straw, pour the beer into the 7up cup and bosh.

Hahahaā€¦yep

There was a similar issue in Brazil in 2014.

Under Brazilian law, at the time, booze was banned at football stadiums and Bud threw a wobbley over their beers being banned from stadiums and forced the Brazilian government to change the law for the WC. But I say good luck trying to do that with Qatar

There was a row before the 2006 World Cup in Germany about Bud in stadiums but that was because Budweiser is pish.

Having watched Scottish football for years I donā€™t have a problem with not having alcohol in grounds. Most people meet up at a pub before or after anyway. Iā€™m not entirely sure that alcohol firms sponsoring sporting events is a particularly good idea. However, this does appear to be another case of Qatar breaking agreements that they made with FIFA during the bidding process.

You mean Budwater ā€¦ :innocent:

Iā€™ll be very interested to see the result of this game. Qatar, on a sporting level, should lose their three games by quite a margin. But will they? If they draw or win games in this tournament, weā€™ll know that these games were rigged beforehand.
