FIFA World Cup: Qatar 2022

You know what @GermanRed meant, come on now.

Starting CBs on teams that have consistently won scads of trophies are bound to be good. Otherwise they wouldn’t have won that much.

Phil Neville was never a nailed on starter for United the way Ferdinand was for example.

He asked what makes a player great if it isn’t trophies won.

What makes a player great is how good they are.

Fair enough, it’s one of the criteria and not necessarily the deciding one

Live Commentary on some Senegalese radio -

89:50 - 7 minutes added on
96:59 - Annnnnnnnnnd it falls to ISMAILAAAAAAAAAAA SARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR…surely that’s the end of England’s World Cup dreammsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

God rest our Lady Diana

ITV to mention penalties at least every 5 mins in their commentary

Mendy has been curiously suspect this tournament

If he operates against Shaw (and Maguire next to him) we are in trouble. Recon Walker can handle him

This game is not on German tv - can’t believe it.

Watching a stream that is 80 seconds behind.

Future Liverpool midfield

Nice bit of play from Hendo

Have to get rid of this Fox stream :joy:

Commentator talking about Senegoal

Stupid of Rice to try that give and go there

They know to run at McGuire.

Hope not, Nampalys Mendy is already 30.

Diatta looks like Mendy’s twin brother!

Not just one of the best CB’s of his day but one of the most storied players of his day. Tough to compare players from different eras. I’m too young to know much about that era, but I wonder if the position requires different skills today. Faster pitches and so forth.

As great as they were, easily ahead.

Nowhere near

How old are you? Have you seen them play? In the flesh? I’ve seen Ronaldo and Ronaldinho and Messi.

Maradona was better than all three of them

Why you all so quiet
