Iām going Japan and Brazil today.
3pm should be a bit of a toss up mind.
Thereās certainly a shock coming in this last 16, I know it hasnāt come yet but trust me on this 1.
Whether it be Spain, Portugalā¦hopefully Brazil.
On the flip side, France are not built to press and even against Poland allowed them to have possession largely unopposed in their own half when they had it.
Croatia with two changes today.
Sosa is out with a little issue, so Barisic has to start at LB.
Petkovic starts ahead of Livaja today. Not a big fan of that call (we could go without both of them, there are other solutions), but there you go.
Could be tricky, but letās do this.
It will be fascinating to see how it all sets up and plays out. Both teams definitely have the weapons to hurt each other. If it is a tight game, I see Mbappe as the stand out player who can do something out of nothing to make the difference. But you never know!
Maybe this is the game where Maguire nods the winner in from a corner, and teams end up clamoring to sign him from Man Utd
Should be a good game. Croatia have the pedigree but Japan have the exuberance.
Surprised Orsic doesnāt get more of a look in?
Think weāre all hoping the exuberance of Japan shines through today, sorry @Zoran
Nah, not surprised really.
His best position is on the left and Perisic, without being a world beater, is a clear better player. Orsic doesnāt like to play on the right so thatās it, heās there mostly as backup if something happens to Perisic or weāre throwing the kitchen sink.
Itās a different scenario when Dinamo plays in itās weaker league or when they face the big boys in Europe, plenty space to exploit. His name is known now because he does have higlights against top opposition. Heās decent, but not that good. Almost ended up at Burnley last January.
He doesnāt have much more to his game other than pace, a goal from distance and a bit of dribbling ability. His Croatia chances so far havenāt been of great quality, apart from when we caused a bit of chaos to Spain in the last Euro.
No problem, Croatia havenāt been great or great fun to watch apart from the rest of the game against Canada. Fully understand the general sympathy for Japan.
After the first game, Spain were shocking in their group. Everyone was talking about Germany getting knocked out but it was Spain that actually lost their game.
Japan have been generally entertaining in win and loss.
Itās all down to who concentrates on football the most.
That was more than a half chance for Japan.
Lively start for them.
Bit of a calamity there by Tomiyasuā¦Perisic canāt take advantage.
Spoke too soon on that
Heard from a Japanese colleague of mine. He could not bear the 4:00 a.m. start time v Spain and probable loss. He is definitely awake for the midnight Tuesday start time of this match. Probably similar throughout the country. Much higher ratings for this match as Japanese feel free to dream.
Pretty even match thus far. Hard to pick on this one. Could be the first to go to extra time, hope not.
Go Japan!
Deserved. Hope itās not off.
Theyāre going to win it arenāt they.
Goal 1-1, just switched it on
