So the Ballon dāOr boy is out, wonder what they must be thinking.
Did they think that squads of 26 and 5 subs would solve the issue? Good luck with that.
As more and more injuries happen, they will ask themselves whatās the point of it.
Big blows for France, from defence, midfield (especially), to attack. I sense Deschampsā best chance here is to go back to basics, in order to squeeze the maximum out of whatās left.
Another look at what theyāre terming accommodation. Pathetic. If any of you guys have ever been to Africa you might be familiar with the Safari Tent; comfortable, hardy, semi-permament canvas tents with amenities set up quickly and cheaply with a minimum of fuss. A skilled crew can have one erected, furnished and completed in two days and it would look 100 times better than that shit in the desert.
This is a good article, unfortunately only in German, describing the circumstances from a visitorās perspective. Sounds like a dystopian nightmare, fans being pushed around endlessly in fenced paths around the city. (Headline is āMetal grids breaking the will of the world cup visitorsāā¦)
No one forced Qatar to host the tournament. Part of them being willing to host it should have been putting aside their particulars to allow football fans to participate in their festival the way they always have. Besides the human rights stuff, this is just a far more fundamental stealing the game from the fans sort of situation.
It amused me when he compared temperatures with Germany. Itās -3Ā°C at the moment here.
However Iām assuming that he means how oppressive it feels. I can remember being in Malaysia and the humidity was crippling. It was bad enough just wandering around being touristy, let alone having to do anything active. Quite how that affects professional athletes is probably a different question.
Itās sad fans that spent all that money have to stay in set areas. Part (most?) of the fun of traveling to far away places is exploring and discovering, moving off the beaten path. Obviously the games are the focul point, but lots of down time between.
Mainly, out of curiosity, to see the city as well. I can hardly recognise the skyline, except for the pyramid shaped Sheraton hotel. Last time I was there was Christmas 1999. The city looks beautiful.
