The first goal contributions from Flo Wirtz for LFC.

People forget that it’s actually his 3rd assist of the season, his first was in the CS game. Not a major trophy, but it counts as an official game.

I’m starting to lose faith he is going to come good in the premiership. Not seeing any glimpses at all.

Yet has he created the most chances of any player over a certain number of minutes.

Community shield is classed as a friendly.

This is the most confusing stat its has no context. If he passes it to Dom 30 yards out and Dom shoots and its saved is that creating a chance.

Goals and assists from that game are counted, not as from a classic friendly. That was my point.

They do not count as an official stat.

Not that I want to defend him to the hilt but if someone who has never watched Liverpool before started watching Liverpool games, they wouldn’t be able to discern anything about the playing style of the team, the quality and stature of the players, let alone their transfer fees/market value.

I do think it’s obvious that Wirtz will need time to get up to speed and physicality of PL. He’s definitely not used to not having that extra second on the ball. Even taking that into account, I still have him in our least worst XI at the moment.

He had fleeting moments of getting a grip of games but by and large, I think it’s fair to say he hasn’t shown that he is close to being a top level player with us.

That would be an interesting exercise. :smiley:

I’ve firmly been in self-deprecating mode for weeks now. One of my absolutely closest mates, a die-hard Liverpool fan that I could tell you for weeks about, has been peppering me with gallows humour from Liverpool fans from social media. Stuff like Slot’s picture with the caption of ā€œbelievers to doubtersā€ or ā€œSlot spending 500M euros to build a side around Gakpoā€ā€¦ I mean, it hurts me deeply but I’m still laughing my heart out because that was the way we supported Liverpool until Klopp won his first trophy with us.

I think still, that it’s a good decision, Florian Wirtz has joined Liverpool FC instead remain in Bundesliga. Good for him and good for ā€œDFB-Elfā€ (Germany national team). If i am be the ā€œBundestrainerā€ (in English ā€œfederal coachā€, means the manager of the Germany national team), i would too call-up Anton Stach (Leeds), Kevin Schade and Vitaly Janelt (both Brentford)..

Yeah for me Florian is our best player. We have to get him combining with more players and into the game - if that means dropping Alexis and Mo etc then so be it.

Flo is establishing an understanding with Hugo and I’d like to see Chiesa in there too (at least until Alex is 100%). Dom and Grav obviously play and I’d put Curtis in as well.

Something like:

Hugo, Chiesa/Cody
Wirtz
Grav, Dom, Curtis
Kerkez, Virg, JoGo, Bradley

Ibou to ideally sitout a few games unless absolutely necessary;
Robbo to come on for Kerkez if he isn’t playing well with the aim of having Milos complete 90mins and cement his spot by Jan;
Alexis spends time as a midfield sub until he’s 100% then he fights for more minutes;
Alex to come in as a sub for Hugo and then play alongside him in a front 2 once he’s ready.

Flo has been fine to me, better than the press want you to believe

alot more lightweight players have thrived in the premierleague so i dont think its a case of Flo ā€˜having to bulk up and adjust’

he gets into great positions, isnt utlised properly and doesnt find players in the box as much as he should, but utltimately, my biggest issue is hes not playing aggressively (with the ball) enough, its little touches in and around the box, wee little dinks, runs into space and passes backwards, creates space for others, all fantastic components…but just needs to take one touch and hammer the fecking thing a few times, or drive directly into the box with no other thought than to score…needs to worry about Florian Wirtz a bit more, go and pad your stats mate, its only going to be better for LFC…

the whole team seems toothless right now, so time for this guy to stop being so ā€˜jazz’ and start being ā€˜heavy metal’

Fede go thirty minutes on Saturday, and he was fucking awful.

I just don’t get the love in.

Amen. Always get the feeling he’s overthinking, trying too hard to do the ā€˜right thing’ he forgets to do his thing.

Mo had 88 minutes and was worse before he scored

My opinion on Mo Salah’s performance on Saturday is on the record.

And so is your opinion on Chiesa, but at least Chiesa works hard to help defensively, and for me at this moment is the one up front that hits the target when shooting the most.
