Florian WIRTZ: 2025/26

If he surpasses King Kenny as the greatest of all times , you will still come on an in match thread and declare him as useless. I can’t help you there mate.

Heh? I think you’re mixed up again mate. I’m a big fan of Flo plus I don’t post shite in the in match threads.

I am mixed up, and I humbly apologise.
The comment was in response to Walshy. Genuinely mistaken.

This is utterly crazy… Dare I say he has been let down by others

Wirtz, in fact, has been creating chances when he has been involved. He has created more chances per 90 minutes than any other player in the division who has played more than 200 minutes.

What absolute rot. I’ve been a big supporter of Flo. It’s Mo that I think doesn’t deserve to be starting.

I didn’t notice it until long after the game, when I watched the match vlog from the away end perspective. It didn’t come across that way on TV. It was really nice to see how a new team chemistry is developing step by step and how everyone can empathize with Florian’s relief.

He needed that. I didn’t see that on tv but it makes sense now, because after that goal went in he played with a swagger I hadn’t seen since his Leverkusen days. Long may it continue.

Yeah, that needs time and will need time still.

But they aren’t a closed-knit group yet by any means. When Ekitike got the equalizer, he wheeled off to celebrate on his own, and no team-mate joined him. They were celebrating elsewhere on the pitch, and he went back to the center circle on his own.

You might be right on that point, but it could also have had something to do with letting Ekitike acknowledge the home crowd on his own without too much ‘in yer face’ jubilation

I think he didn’t want to celebrate it, at least for me it looked deliberately because of his former club etc.

I saw this during the game yesterday and was so happy with this move. We have missed it and Wirtz is one of the few players who has the creativity, passing range and skill to do this. None of these gets captured in Goals/ Assists stats.

I was also very displeased with the commentators (Townsend/ Taylor I think) that finally Wirtz having a good game or so. FFS he’s been really good for so many games unless you believe some media or twitter bullshit. It’s a pity people can’t see this or don’t want to see this even now.

Ah yeah, didn’t think of that. But it still struck me that no-one would come towards him in order to congratulate him. Maybe they did it a bit later.
