Florian WIRTZ: 2025/26

He’s a proper player’s player.

It takes a few seconds in training to detect that.

And how he admired Jones since pre-season and vice versa.

Technically some of our very best players, ballers recognize ballers.

Wirtz is definitely ahead of Kerkez in regards to settling in. But he is of course nowhere near the level he can be. The reality is in between. He is showing flashes of brilliance and getting consistent at that. However, it would be disingenuous to say that it’s enough. The great thing is that he seems to be willing to hustle and dig in. Hopefully this is the settling in season.

From the highlights i saw, his shot in the first half (dont know if this is the same one you are referring to) didn’t appear to lack conviction to me. He was trying to place/bend it round the keeper which will usually need a defter touch to achieve.

From the position he was in with little preparation, body position not being great for what he wanted to do (hence why it wasn’t that accurate) and going inside of his foot, he actually managed to extract decent power from it. And his assist was just… yeah, good, but not difficult for a player of his skills.

I really liked how all his teammates were behind him and showed him their support after he scored. They are all in it together and knew he needed that monkey off his back. He’s class from what I’ve seen and I’m excited to keep seeing him adapt to the PL. Would like him in the middle but he’s familiar with the left side and still floats around

Watching some comments under the post of Instagram.

For example:

“Am 18 Spieltagen gegen den Tabellenletzten…jeden Penny wert!”

@Bekloppt @mattyhurst @Cologne-Liverpool @RedWhippet @GermanRed

I think, that are salty fans of the Bazis, then are sad, while Flo has not joined Bayern. But why must Flo move to Munich? On my oponion, a German international must join a club from abroad, especially a club in LaLiga or Premier League, to take a great challenge. The win of the Bundesliga title with f**king Bazis are not a challenge.

I become angry, if Flo recieves hate here in Germany from some fans.

Honestly Kumpel, I don’t give a shit what a bunch of entitled Bayern fans and commentators say. It’s completely irrelevant.
He’s a great player, playing for the greatest club in the world. That’s all that matters.

got to the point now where i’m questioning if Florian makes it here, especially under Slot, maybe it’s an issue in the project that was apparently sold to him, but he can’t be happy with what hes being involved in

we can all see with our eyes he’s an absolute baller, but that alone doesn’t mean success

he looks like he’s playing five aside football on a full park, every time he gets past someone he looks like he just wants to find the next bloke to go around, he looks like hes not interested in scoring outside the box, he keeps getting in trouble in possession, i know im meant to have patience, but the little bits and pieces on offer don’t really add up to equal enough

i think we are nearing the point that blaming everyone else for not being on his wave length isnt a sufficient enough excuse, a man of that talent should be able to adapt

forget the price tag, but when your given one of the spots to play the piano, not carry it, then you need to play a tune

maybe im being a bit harsh, because you cant play a through ball to a player not making a run…but…still

I thought he’s one of our better players recently.

I’ve got warning signs over a number of players, Wirtz for me will be fine.

I might be mistaken but I’m sure you’ve posted something like this already.

yeah, just after the Leeds game.

my issue isnt with the quality as its obviously there.

but sometimes you see situations where an obviously quality footballer just cant make it work at a certain club, and sometimes that starts to creep in when things just dont go your way.

he lost the ball again a few times today, and im sure theres a stat somewhere about someone else losing it more often, but it was the way in which possession was given up, just with a whimper, theres moments where its almost like a rondo for him, when match day should be worth more

has he had a shot from outside the box yet thats not a free kick? genuine question as i havent seen everygame, but for a lad that can so easily make himself a yard of space, its certainly missing from his game using the eye test

lets hope im wrong, though.

Thing is if Slot is here for a long run then he will have to develop something. Right manager he will thrive that maybe Slot but likely someone else.

I’m not going judge many until decisions are made, I generally think he’s by far from one of the worst out there.

Then there were stats where he lost possession twice with touches in the high 90’s with most touches being in the attacking 3rd, so stats can be used both ways.

Also, how many different positions has he been used in and with different forwards, how can he work out an understanding when it keeps changing?

your first doesn’t work against me, it emphasises my point, that statistically hes probably doing more than most, i bet the passing in the high nineties would have a very low risk percentage of pass…there was one moment in todays game where he pinged the ball pretty quickly about 30 yards out to the left, zipped it along the deck, i said to my daughter that that was what i wanted to see more from him, change it up a bit, no point in having a high rotation of 5 yard passes if theres no change. so yeah, id sacrafice a 90% posession stat for a bit of effectiveness…Gerrard probably never had a 90% game in his life!!!

regarding the positions, again, for the footballer he is, it shouldn’t be a major factor… most positions he has been given see him moving in a similar area on the park in a role close enough to what seems as his best, its not like hes had to go back to right back to hold the line, then fill in up top, then get the ball off the centre halves feet…

hes been given licence.

You have just been on about him being poor in possession and losing the ball, when overall he has about 85% pass completion and that is in the final 3rd, the hardest area to maintain possession.

His 2 best game against wolves and Spurs he had just over 84% and 90% respectively.

So no it doesn’t prove your point.

nope.

i stated that when he lost posssesion it was with a whimper, i even suggested thered be stats telling me someone else lost the ball more.

my exact words;[quote=“Redbj, post:361, topic:5153”]

that he has good possession stats doesnt disprove my point at all.

to clarify, if i ddnt come accross properly first time

when he loses the ball, he loses it very softly.

today it looked like he was in a training drill on a few occassions.

initially when he played there was talk about him needing added strength, which i think he has slowly built up, but he still loses some battles with a whimper.

hope that clarifies.
