yep, whilst i accept that, its not about be Adama Traore, but more about an understanding of what space he is in.
like as in, at the extreme end of the example, no one could ever claim Messi was a force of nature physically, but not many people will knock him off the ball.
against Leeds a prime example comes to mind, cross comes in from the right and instead of whacking it first time, or a touch away from the defender, his first touch bangs it straight into a vunerable space…which he then doesnt fight for…it was like when you lose the ball in a training session…it just looked ‘soft’
anyhoo… probably drilling down a bit too much on him now, i dont believe hes a major issue, or that he hasnt got the quality, im just getting a bit worried you might see him and the club decide its not worth the prolonged effort to make it work here.
i also posed the question about shooting outside the box, for a lad with such a great touch and a way to make space for himself, i honestly cant remember him drilling the ball in from outside the box.
We just have a difference of opinion, his touch is exceptional and he is the type of player I would pay to watch and for me he will only get better, but may be not under Slot as he doesn’t know hiw to use him.
I also think that at times that he can’t believe the team he’s playing in, especially having joined a league-winning team. You’ll see him take up fantastic positions within pockets of space that opponents afford him (Fulham defenders kept doing that yesterday in the second half, especially on their left side of defence), yet none of his teammates either had the courage to pass it to him, or didn’t see him in the first place.
We wont find him playing so many backward passes.
Lost count the amount of time we went from their box to our box with no pressure at all from Fulham players. Wirtz in a ton of space…but no, go backwards.
I watch other Prem games and we definitely play the slowest (and probably) the most boring football out of most of the league.
Against Fulham, with their surprising change of formation (from 4 at the back to an asymmetrical 5) and going a goal ahead, with our selection (I thought Frimpong would start) also, we often missed more attacking runs to support the player in possession. That player was often overcrowded by opponents, with not enough help around. Wirtz is alright now, but there’s no hiding from the fact that it’s still far from what he can do and what he’ll hopefully reach in the future.
Yes he has scored his first goals but I think it’s fair to say that he is still showing glimpses of his talent, not putting up a consistent enough performance to be anywhere near world class as he is supposed to be.
Do not know whether it’s a position issue because he is obviously given alot of freedom to roam across the forward ranks. And yes if he has a problem with that, then a world class player has to adapt. Right now, he is just part of the dull play we see, not yet rising above despite the rot.
The only light I see is that he looks like the type who is willing to dig in and keep trying. So I do admire such traits in a Liverpool player.
Yes, great for 1 and 2 touch passing and is more beneficial for players not at an elite level, but It is the movement that is limited and that is one of our issues.
For me there are many drills that you see that involve passing and moving and would also benefit the players being more accustomed to each other.
Rondos have their place, but it seems it is done all the time in training videos.
