Florian WIRTZ: 2026/27

So, a player signing knowing they are cheats gets a free pass? Not his fault?

Or am I reading your response incorrectly?

I have zero issues with players who went to City.

And only Cherki himself can answer what he knew or suspected or not.

I’ll have a guess, he doesn’t care, like all of them or most of them. Lijnders, Cherki, Gakpo, whoever.

When and if something happens, they will reconsider staying/going.

Gakpo is still a Liverpool player, so I wouldn’t band him with those other mercenary fucks.

I was looking out for you. :face_with_tongue:

I think today was a little promising in terms of how Nyoni found him a bit more through the lines.

Getting him on the ball in good areas is step one. He has to do the rest.

I wouldn’t have guessed from the appearance. Playmobil also do one:

I think Playmobil is now purely bought for men over 50, in a similar way that Barbies are bought by women of a certain age.

We should not forget, when Cherki was available. We chose Wirtz instead for 3 times his price. We could of had Cherki if we wanted. So i dont blame him.

As for Gakpo, most wanted him gone. Even though the whole team played poorly probably except Szoboszlai.

Gakpo wanted to play regularly and be appreciated. He was a scapegoat for all things wrong with the team last season. Still had 7 goals 5 assists in PL… 2nd only to Etitikes 11 goals.

So i wouldn’t blame Cody for joining City. I would blame our club for selling him to City. A direct rival.

Back on topic… Wirtz so far needs certain type of players to excel. Lots of movement ahead of him. ( Hugo as opposed to Isak). And midfield behind him that feed him in his favored areas. Where he does not have to drop deep.

I think he needs to adjust his game rather than waiting for ideal situations for himself.

But i believe he will come good. Just maybe not the stats we hoped for. As a ÂŁ100m player.

Ps… we need a back up #10 to compete/ rotate with him

Credit to him, the last 2 games he had alot more direct contributions and influence, making himself relevant in the game. it’s of course early days and it’s not world class yet but hopefully it’s a start of a great run for him.

Gakpo went from 24-25 goal involvements in his previous season to 15 last season. No, he wasn’t the main guilty party of our season and yes he got a lot of dislike/hate, but there’s no hiding from the fact that he had a season below standard. Numbers need context.

Isak’s movement should on paper fit Wirtz better than Ekitike. Ekitike does have raw pace, but his natural qualities are also to come towards the ball more. It will be interesting to see what happens when (hopefully it’s not if) they’re all fit, because I already had doubts last summer.

Iraola could use Ekitike in sort of a way he used Kroupi at Bournemouth. At times he will be of course competition with Isak for the striker role and at times, when they’re both together on the pitch, he might be our second striker.

Hmmm. I did say no one played well last season. So im not making out Gakpo to be our savior. But he received much more criticism than others. But still was able to find the back of net.
. Every player compared to the previous title winning season was down. Not just Gakpo.

I dont see the movement or chemistry between Isak and Wirtz.

Coming to the ball and playing 1, 2 passes between each other as Etitike and Wirtz has done shows movement. Which helps give Wirtz himself goal scoring opportunities. And not just being a target man like Isak.

Just my humble opinion.

I am open to whatever works for the team to succeed.

Normal when your as selfish as he was.
Let’s not forget how bad Gakpo was that season and also the minutes Slot handed his way.
I never asked for him to go however I definitely questioned his attitude and new contract. Never thought he had suddenly become a bad player but something needed to be done. He was a major reason for our lack of goals. What went wrong?

These 9 big chances are a farce by the way.
I don’t even consider the assist a real assist - Munez still had to run 60 yards, cut inside and bend it in.
Its not Wirtzs fault these stats are out there as everything is so over analysed now. But there’s no way he created 9 big chance v Brentford.

I understand. Just saying nobody was scoring except etitike. Not Salah, nobody.

I saw a team struggle for goals. And gakpo indeed was selfish looking for his shot. This is not a big defense of him.

Anyways whether he stays or goes. Hoping the best for who is here

It was 9 chances, not 9 big chances. Before Brentford I think our whole team had less than 9 big chances for the first six games.

Edit: just checked and at the moment we have 10 big chances, the lowest in the PL
