Talking of Frimpong what’s happened to him?
Didn’t even last 5 seconds. ![]()
A week ago Romano “reported” that the only issue being negotiated was the structure of the add-ons.
The early transfer window closes on June 10. Surely we want to get this done before then.
You can still agree deals after that just not register it till July 1st. Which is still before preseason starts.
Fair point. Perhaps I am just hoping we wrap this up sooner rather than later. ![]()
It’s an interesting thought. It does seem Ekitike, Sesko and Gyokeres are the big three on the move this summer but all looks to be overpriced.
With the other business we’re doing and the fact Mo is our main goal getter maybe we do look at someone in that next tier down. Perhaps they don’t quite meet all our usual requirements or maybe they’re a bit more of the type Hughes might have looked at when he was at Bournemouth.
Burkardt, Woltemade, Biereth, Aghehowa, Kalimuendo. All right kind of age and intriguing. Really is a dearth of top strikers out there at the moment. Maybe we need to do what we did with Jota and turn someone whose done a good bulk of their work out wide into more of a central player.

Sone great potential there. I just picked the one with a good release clause. Porto has 100 million release clause on Aghehowa. Crazy rates these strikers are going for. Crazy we could have signed DeBruyne for 29 million before he joined City.
That was a LOT of money then. It would have been our second highest ever fee
I always liked it when Crouch and Lucas kept winning miles after they’d left. Crouch was interviewed when he won and was totally embarrassed so funny.
Sorry, who?
Never going to happen, but I’d love to find out what makes us believe that Wirtz is approximately 100 mil. better than Cherki.
For a club that prides itself in smart transfer business, this seems like an opulent splash of money that you’d expect from one of the oil clubs.
False economies. Look at the likes of Chiesa ‘only 10m’ but likely we lose money and far from a bargain. At the top the differences between the very best players and those 2 steps down result in significantly higher fees. If we want to stay at the top, having a few ‘world class’ players in the team is very important and if we can find one who is perfect for us (see Virg) then it’s worth paying the big fee.
I struggle to take this posts seriously moaning because we are spending too much. This is not aimed directly at you but you are following the same path. It seems not having the ability to moan about FSG been tight is messing with peoples though patterns. If the transfers were the other way around and we were Cherki for 40m and Wirtz was off to City for the 120m people would be moaning City shopping at Harrods, Liverpool at Aldi how can we compete.
I think it’s a case of value for money. I don’t think anyone has a problem about the VVD and Alisson record spending because they were clearly the best money can buy. I suspect that Wirtz is in the same category, but it is reasonable to have concerns when other players are available who’s ability may be in the same ballpark.
I don’t agree.
If Cherki represented better ability per pound, we would have been serious about him.
The people at the club tasked with these things are probably better than us fans at identifying such.
Do people seriously think the club hasn’t done its due diligence and understand who they think is the better prospect.
I’m pretty sure that they have, but that doesn’t stop people considering the alternatives. If they did, it would probably kill off 90% of the threads on this forum.
Feck me. People want Cherki over Wirtz!
Let him go to City. I am super underwhelmed by their signings. Not improving.
Thats not what was first said it was i would like to see why the club thinks Wirtz is better. Thats not considereding other options the club has done that.
